L'Eternite
Sentinel soul,
We whisper confession
Of the empty night
And the fiery day.
From human prayers
From common spirits
You free yourself
And thus you fly.
Since from you alone
Satin embers
Duty breathes
No one says: at last.
This project was inspired by a French poet Arthur Rimbaudās poem - L'EterniteĢ, meaning eternity in English.
A body of work that is magical. Through the use of lyricism by Arthur the poem evokes emotion and you feel like it is speaking to you.
It is super expressive and draws you emotion to the words in the poem. The author is talking about eternity, an inifinite time, an unending time.
The sea, waves and rocks in this body of work represents openness and being untethered.
Something that does not wish to be contained.
Arthur Rimbaud in his work speaks of human prayers, spirits. These are all things that the earth cannot contain ; they exist beyond this realm. They cannot be compressed into a single form.
Here lies the intersection of Arthurās poem and my visual interpretation of what freedom truly means to be like water ,in the sea . To be a thing no earthly hands or human body can fully grasp.
To see the model beside the sea , surrounded by the black rocks and waves renders the vision of being endless, without borders and free.
Here I would say Rimbaud work is the root or rather the seed , and this visual interpretation is the miracle of the tree born out of it .
To learn what it means to be free we must seek out the sea.

Being a nomad your identity, ideas, artistic approach, thoughts and understanding of things shifts with every new space and location you visit. You meet people along the way who are living a similar life to you but yet so opposite. Our artistic views and creative processes are different.
We are similar in the sense that we are both creating art and bringing our ideas to life. Producing work that is on the other side of fear, the unknown. We paint pictures of what our worlds could be, for us and for the future generation to reference from. We survive all factors that hinder our existence and limit our voices.
Photography provides a portal for human interaction. It provides a glimpse of another artist's life and thoughts. All in all the people you meet along the way impact the spaces that they are in and spearheading a different narrative. Having said that pictured is Gouled Ahmed an artist and creative director, he is an archetype of creatives who are pushing boundaries in Addis.
These images were edited during Ramadan ,a month filled with spiritual nourishment, love, hope and a sense of belonging. I had enough time to go through my hard drives and it reminded me of why photography is important in my life.

Mystery
Why is it we dream of experiences that seem right beyond this realm at times? Is there an invisible world we are unaware of that is happening at the same time we are?
There is no single way to narrow down the human experience, and perhaps we too are simply a combination of mysteries we are learning to decipher.
