C&R House, Cañadas de Obregón, Jalisco, Mexico, 2026 Architecture: Estudio Iván Barba @estudio_ivanbarba Scale 1:50 Materials: Rosa morada wood, walnut detailing, balsa wood, 3D printed pieces Photography: @itzamnagc The project arises as a response to a vital transition: retirement. Envisioned for a couple, this dwelling advocates for inhabiting the ordinary with dignity, fostering a bond with the scenery and with time dripping slowly like honey. The house is set within the site boundaries in a restrained manner, allowing for the preservation of an existing tree and the incorporation of garden patios as living extensions of the interior space. Naturally responding to the evolving needs of aging, and beyond mere functionality, the project proposes a spatial quality that accompanies the passage of time through soft lighting, close proximity to greenery, and a calming spatial flow, seeking an architecture that neither tires nor overwhelms while aging with dignity. #models_architecture #architecturemodel #modelmaking #scalemodel #facademodel #architecturemodelphotography #mexicanarchitecture #estudioivánbarba #architectureproject #house

Casa Guadalupe, Gijón, Spain, 2025 (built) @casaguadalupegijon Architecture: HANGHAR @hanghar.llc Casa Guadalupe represents HANGHAR's commitment to a contemporary form of housing grounded in industrialized construction, capable of combining efficiency, sustainability, and material quality without losing its connection to the Asturian landscape. From a typological standpoint, the house is rooted in the local context through two figures deeply embedded in Asturian territory: the agricultural shed and the casa mariñana. In a suburban environment that is in fact more rural than residential, these typologies continue to organize the territory, its scale, and the way plots are occupied. Casa Guadalupe draws from them its clear volumetric logic, its direct relationship to the ground and the climate, and a restrained way of building, all reinterpreted through a contemporary language and a dry, prefabricated construction system. #models_architecture #architecturemodel #modelmaking #scalemodel #facademodel #architecturemodelphotography #asturianarchitecture #hanghar #architectureproject #casaguadalupe #prefabricated #housing #asturias

Public Bath in former brickyard, "Alte Ziegelei - Landbad Bordenau", Lower Saxony, Germany Architecture: Nick Chadde @nickchadde / Studio Copan ~ Architektur + Städtebau @studiocopan.arch University: Bauhaus-University Weimar @bauhaus_uni Professor: Jörg Springer @baukunst.weimar Scale 1:100 Material: Plaster (spaghetti casting) By deconstructing the ruinous roof-framework of the "Old Brickyard" just outside the village of Bordenau, Lower Saxony, Germany, the landmarked "Zig-Zag-oven" is being uncovered. The contemporary extension holds the function of a Landbad ( bath in a rural environment) and approaches the existing brick-oven spatially and atmospherically. The project aims to address the issue of an increasing number of vacant buildings in the rural periphery and to raise an awareness for local craftsmanship and its direct connection to the built environment. The adaptive reuse of an inoperative, landmarked brick-oven built in the 1930s serves as an example for constituting an appropriate and contemporary sense of togetherness for the rural community. Locals and travelers alike are enabled to experience a former place of production by the public function of the Landbad, which respects the historic importance of the site and strengthens the identity of the village. Awards (selection): • Winner Gold, Category Newcomer - Fritz-Höger Award for Brick-architecture 2017 • YTAA, Venice Biennale - Shortlist 2018 • Egon-Eiermann-Preis - Rural Architecture 2017 • Special Honors of the Thuringia Parliament - Contributions to the built culture 2017 #models_architecture #architecturemodel #modelmaking #scalemodel #architecturemodelphotography #germanarchitecture #architecturestudent #studiocopan #brickarchitecture #landbad #publicbath #architectureproject #bauhausuniversityweimar

Budapest Towers – Mixed-use Building, Brazil, 2025 Architecture: Studio ac17 @studio.ac17 Scale 1:200 Materials: Chipboard, kraft paper, triplex paperboard, acetate sheet, sawdust Budapest Towers is a conceptual mixed-use complex designed to promote urban permeability, visual lightness, and the integration between public and private spaces. The project consists of a commercial base with retail spaces, cultural areas, and an internal public plaza connected through multiple pedestrian accesses, topped by a landscaped terrace that mediates the transition to the residential and corporate towers above. The residential tower features 15 floors with façades defined by exposed steel exoskeletons, wooden brise-soleils, and glass balconies, while the corporate tower contains 10 floors with reflective glass façades and vertical metallic shading devices for thermal control. Both towers are connected by a bridge volume inspired by Budapest's Chain Bridge, housing leisure and social spaces while symbolizing connection, transition, and the integration of different functions within a single architectural ensemble. #models_architecture #architecturemodel #modelmaking #scalemodel #facademodel #architecturemodelphotography #brazilianarchitecture #studioac17 #architectureproject #budapesttowers #mixedusebuilding #residentialtower

"New Blatten" Students: Luca Bächler @lucabachler , Lukas Kauz @lukas_chuz University: ETH Zürich @arch.ethz , Fall 2025 Professors: Emanuel Christ, Christoph Gantenbein @christgantenbein Scale 1:50 Materials: Wood, cardboard, steel, gypsum A rock–ice–debris avalanche erased Blatten’s historic village and left an unstable terrain. Rebuilding a dispersed settlement with adequate safety and quality would take years, time the displaced community does not have. The project proposes an early return to the site, all-owing life and social structures to reestablish while the ground continues to stabilize. The intervention begins with a linear pier structure extending from the valley road into the debris field. Raised above unstable ground and anchored in stable rock, it provides access, services, and a first point of occupation. Rather than rebuilding the village immediately, it concentrates communal life into a single collective form, drawing on historical models of shared living in remote contexts. This structure brings together housing, shared spaces, and essential functions within a compact system. It supports daily life, exchange, and continuity of the community under provisional conditions. Overtime, it can shift in use and intensity, responding to changing needs and improving ground stability. The project understands settlement as a gradual process. It prioritizes presence over completion, continuity over form, and adaptation over permanence. #models_architecture #architecturemodel #modelmaking #scalemodel #architecturemodelphotography #architecturestudent #architectureproject #newblatten #ethzürich

"The death and life of Van Horne" Students: Olivier Lacroix @olivierlacrx , Matisse Poiré-Prest @__matisse_ , Cloe Rivest, Ji Young Chung McGill University, Montreal, QC, Winter 2026 @mcgill_architecture Scale 1:200, 1:600 Materials: Walnut, maple wood, basswood, plexiglass The project reimagines existing infrastructure as a catalyst for sustainable building practices in Montreal. Instead of treating demolition as waste, the proposal positions locally sourced buildings and infrastructure slated for removal as resources, transforming reclaimed materials into a new public building. Located between Parc des Carrières and Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier Park, the project connects neighborhoods that have long been divided by rail infrastructure. The reused structure becomes a central feature, supporting a new elevated public realm that invites people to gather, move through the site, and spend time outdoors. Inside, the building functions as a hub for learning and making. Workshops and shared spaces allow visitors to repair objects and explore material reuse. A testing and reuse facility studies salvaged construction materials, helping develop more reliable ways to use them in future projects. #models_architecture #architecturemodel #modelmaking #scalemodel #architecturemodelphotography #architecturestudent #architectureproject #mcgilluniversity

Vertical Theater / Adaptive Reuse, Los Angeles, CA Student: Matthew Vallejo @matt_val_430 University: Woodbury School of Architecture @woodbury_soa 2nd Year B.Arch (Spring Studio) Scale: 1/8" = 1'-0" Materials: Made with 3D-printed columns. Original building and floors in basswood. The facade combines 3D-printed parts with cut mesh, finished with spray paint. Dimensions: 54" (H) x 24" (W) x 32" (L) The project is an Adaptive Reuse proposal for the historic 5225 Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles. The design introduces a vertical performing arts theater, utilizing a concept of juxtaposition. By translating the fluid movement of the performing arts into the building's structural form, the new addition acts as a physical manifestation of the art within, creating a dynamic dialogue with the existing tower. #models_architecture #architecturemodelphotography #architecturestudent #verticaltheater #adaptivereuse

Reinterpretation of the Cuelgamuro's Valley, Madrid, Spain, 2025 Architecture: Burgos & Garrido Arquitectos @burgosgarridoarquitectos Model: Ctrl X @ctrlx_modelmakers "Nature has a healing power. The world’s Élan Vital in its continuous transformation — always new and yet always the same in the temporal perception of living beings — is the eternal, differentiated return that provides us with a permanent memory of who we are and the promise of what we can be. The slopes of the Cuelgamuros Valley, altered by grazing 75 years ago, are now a beautiful, rich and ecologically valuable forest. While it is impossible to separate the Monumental Complex in the Cuelgamuros Valley from the Sierra de Guadarrama, it may be possible to soften its imposing character by linking it more closely to the surrounding landscape, blurring its axial and hierarchical presence through vegetation and converting its symbolism to something more conciliatory and universal." #models_architecture #architecturemodel #modelmaking #ctrlx #scalemodel #architecturemodelphotography #spanisharchitecture #burgosgarridoarquitectos #architecturecompetition #architectureproject #cuelgamurosvalleyreinterpretation #cuelgamurosvalley

"Continuity and Contrasts: Architectural Experiments in the Alpine Village of Savogno", Italy Student: Fabio Sciuchetti @fabio_sciuchetti Master's Thesis Project at Politecnico di Milano @polimi Scale 1:500, 1:50 Materials: Wood, plaster Dimensions: 400 x 400 mm (1:500), 600 x 400 mm (1:50) Designed for the abandoned alpine village of Savogno (Italy), this project moves away from a nostalgic, museum-like restoration of vernacular ruins. Instead, it prioritizes the social and morphological reactivation of the settlement through four primary architectural strategies: • "𝗕𝗼𝘅-𝗶𝗻-𝗮-𝗕𝗼𝘅" 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: To preserve the historical integrity of the existing stone ruins while meeting contemporary living standards, new independent timber volumes are inserted inside the ancient walls. This creates a thermal and visual filter, turning the old facade into a protective, breathable shell. • 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: To restore the dense and compact urban fabric of the medieval village, the voids left by collapsed buildings are filled with new monolithic structures. These contemporary additions echo the roughness and massiveness of the original stone without resorting to fake historical mimicry. • 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗰𝘂𝗽𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: Rather than a single massive intervention, the project is fragmented into four distinct lots across the village. By distributing new programs—such as artist residencies, communal workshops, and a micro-agricultural supply chain—it creates a synergistic network that brings life back to the entire settlement. • 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘆: The physical models reflect the project's conceptual dualism through their materiality. The existing topography and historical ruins are cast in solid plaster to represent the heavy, telluric nature of the site, while the contemporary architectural grafts are crafted in wood, emphasizing the lightness and precision of the new additions. #models_architecture #architecturemodel #modelmaking #scalemodel #architecturemodelphotography #architecturestudent #architectureproject #politecnicodimilano
