The Smithsonian is Coming to Moab! The traveling @Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service @sitesexhibitions Voices & Votes: Democracy in America, will be on display at the Moab Arts Center, aka The MARC, From June 8 through August 7, 2026. American democracy is ever-changing - with every generation, every election, and every time we choose to vote and raise our voices. It lives and is reborn at the ballot box, on the streets, in meeting houses, and in our homes. Where does (or doesn’t) art intersect with democracy? WELL, we’re looking for ART & ARTIFACT for our companion exhibit! What have you got in your collection that expresses your voice in democracy? Did you hand draw a campaign poster for something? Did you save every “I Voted” sticker? Did you make a zine or poster to express your voice? Have you seen our Mini Art Museum? Did you know the Smithsonian is coming? We’ve got a new exhibit going up, both in the Mini Art Museum and at the Moab Arts Center. You can find this little gem now, in between Moab City Hall, and the Grand County Public Library. Can you spot the tiny phone booth in there? Look for the large-scale Voices & Votes Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit coming to the Moab Arts Center June 8 through August 7, 2026. Perhaps you’ll find a real telephone booth, where you can listen and leave messages. This story collecting and sharing project is spearheaded by @celiaalario with help from Moab Arts. Installation of the new downtown bins is nearly complete! Thanks to the Streets Team and the Arts Department for collaborating on this project. The City of Moab is getting new trash and recycling bins downtown! It’s time for a much needed ✨ glow ✨ up! Coming to a Main Street location near you, this February! In collaboration with the Arts Department, @moabarts , the new bins will feature artwork from five different local and regional artists! Make sure you get out for a walk to see them all!
