Look at that Lowrider BOUNCE! This vehicle is owned by Moabite Terill Johnston and we had the pleasure of hosting it on the Museum's lawn during the opening of "Lowriding Culture in the American Southwest" this past Friday. Check out the Museum's team in that ride! 🚘

Less than a week until Utah makes history. On April 30, we’ll join nonprofits across the state for the firstever #UtahGives. When you give to the Museum, you help support sharing the many diverse stories from agriculture, to mining, to Indigenous history, and beyond, all taking place in our incredible region. It’s not too early to be a part of it: /organization/Southeastern-Utah-Society-Of-Arts-And-ScienceDan-Olaurie-Museum?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23764648986&gbraid=0AAAAAqufQPk9otkz_tko54UTiTEno670i&gclid=CjwKCAjwhqfPBhBWEiwAZo196lkItVCEQbBl8hJ1lVsBZrYtLzhRYe1H4L2FxaX-e9MXaEvsq8rpzBoCEWEQAvD_BwE or check out the link in our bio.

We love seeing Grand County students at the Museum! Special thanks to the teachers of the seventh grade class, who brought their students in this past week. In total, 70 students participated in our Uranium-Scavenger Hunt around the gallery space, learning about the influential history of mining in the town of Moab, and how Charlie Steen's pitchblende discovery catapulted Moab onto the international stage during the mid-century. We also welcomed students from the Student Career Success Center, the Moore Drawing Class, Moab Charter School, and a Fourth Grade class, coming to a total of 140 students this Spring. Activities for these students were funded by the Utah Humanities (UHS) Program Grant, for which we are incredibly grateful. Unfortunately, according to UHS, "due to the Termination of the NEH (National Endowment for the Humanities) Operating Grant, Program Grant, and Sponsorship Applications are not Currently Being Accepted." Without this funding from the federal government, passed through our state bodies, organizations like ours will struggle to offer students outside-the-classroom learning opportunities that can make showing up to school for field trip days so special and rewarding. Here at the Moab Museum, we'll continue doing our best to meet the needs of our community, young and old. Support how you can!

Our next Collections Storage Facility Tour is coming up next week! Register on our website, it's free! Check out the latest compact shelving which gives our team and guests to the facility access to a wider range of Moab's history as well as the recently installed grid wall, which will be home to art within the collection. See you there! Come ready with your lingering questions about Moab's history and the objects we preserve that are not currently on display at the Museum.
