Tomorrow night at the Moab Library…free event! I’m looking forward to meeting local other-than-human advocates and both discussing our wild creature encounters and getting inspired to do the work we need to do to make room for them on our planet #morethanhumanworld @moab_library #entwinedbook
Cool things happening at the Library (@moab_library ), per usual. Check out this event!

Author and adventurer Bridget A. Lyons ( @bridgetalyons ) will present some of the amazing creatures she profiles in her book, “Entwined: Dispatches from the Intersection of Species”, a collection of 14 essays that braid stories about her encounters with our wild nonhuman neighbors with careful observation, scientific research, and wonder.
Bridget will read excerpts from her book and facilitate a community discussion about what we all can do to foster an environment in which all 8.7 million species on the planet can thrive together.

Thanks to everyone who came out last night to listen and share stories about Beginnings! And we began a new tradition ourselves, with special priority given to folks who are putting their name in the hat to tell a story for the first time on our stage at the @moabarts We had 11 storytellers, 9 of whom were new. That felt special. Save the date for our next slam on June 16th, the theme is Your Voice, Your Vote: Stories of you sharing your opinion, flexing and leveraging your opinions and agency, casting ballots, voting with your feet, voting with your dollar, speaking out for what matters to you! Have ideas for a theme? Message us! We’re crowd sourcing themes! Wanna emcee? Let us know! Feeling nervous about how to prepare to tell your story. We’re here for it! See you in June #Moab and we love you! And thanks to our amazing producing partnership with @moab_library and to @moonflowercooperative for snack support!

Tuesday, February 17 @ 6 PM Don't miss it, kids! Cosmo's Cardboard Carnival happens tonight at the Moab Library!
Hello, Meow, and happy ... spring?
Lately, something intriguing has been happening around the library that has caused me to sit up and take notice and I feel the need to share: There are growing piles of cardboard everywhere!
As the official library cat, I consider it my solemn duty to keep order, maintain morale, and sit directly on anything you are trying to use, especially if it’s cardboard. Therefore, I heartily support this new movement toward cardboard hoarding, and I can’t wait to tell you about it, because this story gets even better.
The Grand County Public Library is having a Cardboard Carnival! In celebration of the world’s best invention; it’s warm, it’s malleable, it’s box-shaped. In fact, it’s an entire philosophy! One can spend hours inside a box, and frequently does, possibly alive, possibly napping, until observed.
On Tuesday, February 17th, at 6 p.m., the Moab Library will transform into a temple of creative ingenuity and structurally questionable architecture for a STEAM event unlike any other. The Cardboard Carnival invites humans of all sizes to engineer games, inventions or whatever delightful nonsense you’d like to attempt using nothing but cardboard, imagination, and an optimistic amount of tape. We’ll also be providing Box-Lox sets to ensure maximum structural integrity. This is a chance for your inner (and outer) child to make your box-fort dreams come true!
For those unfamiliar with STEAM, it stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. I originally thought it stood for “Stuff That Entertains-A-Me,” but I’m told both definitions can apply.
In any case, the Cardboard Carnival will be an evening of creative fun and boxes living their best lives while becoming what they were always meant to be: Art! I will, of course, be present to supervise, hopefully from inside something you just built.
