It is with profound sadness that we announce the closing of Mixtape at 108 E 2nd.
Mixtape was formed out of a desire to build community and create a safe space for everyone while getting to enjoy some damn good food and cocktails. We’re incredibly grateful to have accomplished just that and to have been able to build a family inside these walls. Even though this is the end of Mixtape in its current form, this is not goodbye. We’ll see y’all on down the road. There is more of this story left to be written.

Thank you to the amazing musicians that shared their art. Thank you to @papa_ts_pizza for slinging pies. And thank you to @blacksparrowmusicparlor for being a wonderful host for this event. Here’s just a taste of some of the special items donated by some amazing Taylor local businesses and patrons for our show TOMORROW. 100% of proceeds will be donated to Hope House.
For almost 60 years, Hope House has been a forever home for children and adults with profound intellectual disabilities. From building homes that feel like home, to offering the most specialized care, to hiring and equipping caregivers who become like family—they’ve been relentless in their pursuit of joy, dignity, and belonging.
On July 5th, The Texas floods completely devastated HH. They lost one of their organization buildings along with their beloved friend and HR Director, Sherry Richardson.
They have endured so much loss in this flood, but what keeps them moving forward is the steady heart of the community. That’s why we’re throwing this benefit show and hoping to spread some joy around for the staff + our friend and executive director, Dave Gould.

Hi friends! 👋 Ryan here. When I heard about what happened to Hope House, I sent Executive Director Dave Gould a text message expressing my sorrow. He responded immediately and said, “Help me by finding some joy and passing it around a little bit.”

We’re raising funds to purchase and install a greatly needed fire suppression vent hood at Taylor’s emergency shelter. Without one, the shelter cannot become a licensed commercial kitchen. Currently, the staff and facility cannot serve hot meals to those seeking shelter.
