We had a wonderful time hosting @nicgodoy and his team today for ‘Behind The Lens’ workshops by Panavision - demystifying #panavisionlenses and how different optics influence perspective, depth and atmosphere 🎥 🎥 Great to see so many creatives, directors and advanced technical operators in the room, getting access to the amazing Panavision gear, and hearing from special guest cinematographer @the_other_meg_white and LA-based director @elissa_down 🎬 BIG thanks to @aceparramatta@panavisionofficial and @austcine.nsw for partnering with @mitw_festival and supporting indie filmmakers #westernsydney #represent
We’re very happy to announce that LA-based Aussie director Elissa Down will be joining our 'Behind the Lens' workshop via live video link on Saturday 16 May.
Elissa recently collaborated with our guest speaker Meg White ACS on the acclaimed SBS series While the Men Are Away, a queer revisionist historical dramedy set in 1940s rural Australia. Together they’ll form our case study, sharing insight into their creative collaboration and decision-making behind the camera 🎥
Known for emotionally rich storytelling that embraces intimacy, vulnerability and humour, Elissa’s work has connected with audiences around the world.
We’re incredibly fortunate to have Elissa join this special workshop event alongside Meg White ACS and Panavision Australia, the Australian Cinematographers Society, @aceparramatta and Made in the West Creative.

Last week the team from Made in the West Creative hit the greens for the inaugural 'Drive for Wellness' Charity Golf Day hosted by Penrith @cancerwellnesssupport ⛳
We were proud to sponsor a hole, enjoy a nice day out at @leonaygolfclub with some of our crew, and help support an organisation doing incredibly important work for people living with cancer and their families.
Our team also jumped into the live auction, helping to boost the fundraising total and adding a fair bit of excitement to our lunch 😁 We’re looking forward to getting on the radio with the crew from @my88fm soon.
In total, the day raised nearly $18,500 for cancer wellness support services in our community.
Like many people, our lives have been touched by cancer. We’ve lost loved ones, and we also celebrate the fighters, survivors, and people continuing to live with cancer every day. We were grateful to be part of something that gives back in such a meaningful way. 💛
What a day 💛
We knew it would be something special … but the level of support, energy, and yes — golfing talent — truly exceeded anything we could have imagined.
Days like this are a reminder of the power of community and what’s possible when people come together with purpose.
We are thrilled to announce that, together, we raised $18,537 for Cancer Wellness Support.
This remarkable achievement would not have been possible without your generous involvement and support.
With heartfelt thanks to our incredible supporters:

And to every person who helped bring today to life, from planning and preparation through to every swing on the course - thank you.
Because of you, we can continue supporting individuals and families living with cancer in our community.
We’re excited to announce acclaimed cinematographer Meg White ACS as a special guest speaker for our Behind The Lens workshop with Panavision Australia next weekend 🎥 Meg is one of Australia’s standout cinematography success stories. After beginning her career locally, she quickly established herself as a highly sought-after Director of Photography, going on to shoot major productions including the TV series Ten Pound Poms and While the Men Are Away. She is now primarily working in the US across high-profile screen projects.
Last year, Meg received an Australian Cinematography Society Gold Award for her feature film Life Could Be A Dream and was formally accredited by @austcine 🏅
As part of the workshop, Meg will join @nicgodoy from @panavisionofficial for a special case study discussion exploring her creative process, visual storytelling approach, and how cinematography choices are developed and executed across professional productions.
Join us on Saturday 16 May at @aceparramatta (8 Victoria Rd, Parramatta) for one of two workshops for creatives (11.30am) and technical types (2.30pm) with networking in between 😎

This is a rare opportunity for emerging filmmakers, cinematographers and creatives to hear directly from a working DP operating at an international level. We're so pleased Meg can join us!
STORIES FROM HERE. For the past two weeks, I’ve been working with @pageytrain and @misty3388 at @mitw_creative and fellow filmmaker, @tim_grubisic , teaching Penrith locals the basics of documentary filmmaking. Now, our participants are out in the field capturing their own stories. I can’t wait to see what they bring back, and to help shape those moments into something that truly brings their stories home in the edit.

I am NOT an “AI filmmaker”… but I AM a filmmaker who uses AI.
Starting out in post-production, I’ve always seen myself as a problem solver - someone drawn to any tool or technology that can make the work more efficient, but more importantly, elevate the final result.
Using a mix of professional AI tools - @topazlabs , @elevenlabsio , @klingai_official and @runwayapp - I’ve not only put out fires across multiple projects, but opened doors creatively that simply weren’t there before. But here’s the key: the best use of AI, like great film editing, is INVISIBLE. Creative integrity, ethics, good taste and restraint come first.
Join me at Farfield City HQ on Tuesday, April 28, from 06:00-08:00PM, as I break down how to integrate AI into your workflow - cut through the “slop” and enhance your work without replacing artisans crucial to the filmmaking process.
And the event is FREE!
Thank you to the @nava_visualarts , @fairfieldcityhq and my family at @mitw_creative for asking me to speak at “AI + Ethics and Your Creative Work”.
