happy birthday “Leave It Better Than You Found It” 💋 we hold you and May 8th close. how has it been a year? feels like lifetimes yet also just days ago. we grow and we fly, always together🦋

looking for artists, dancers, bodies and hearts that want to be part of tomorrow, our tomorrow. reach out via DM or text;)) no set schedule or insane expectation at the moment, just a feel for who’s craving a slice of art. if you’re craving it but your life and schedule is crazy, same here. i believe the commitment and hours can look different for us all. don’t let that discourage you from reaching out with interest. “when we die apart, we are born again, together.” i’m reaching out, i’m sat in this depth of hope. i have to create again, i have to. for once i’m heading into creation without such a specific goal. but knowing me i DO believe true creative freedom actually comes best from some sense of direction…so it will most likely turn into a rehearsal process, in hopes of a live showing/premiere of new work at a smaller venue. it could also totally become a film/concept video. really it could become a thousand different things, but it’ll be nothing if we don’t start. waiting is expired for me. and while i enjoyed the time away and while i’ve been putting energy into things yet to be announced, it has been some months since i’ve held a physical space and this is what i’m ready to dive into again. -M

because things have to evolve !! a little section we keep close. 🎞️ from May to November we kept things intact while also knowing change is inevitable and the recipe for true spirt. sprit was so tangible in these rehearsal rooms especially week of show, so mitra created this new phrase despite the original choreography as a a way to celebrate a second go, one of new and now it is one of the few semi unison sections in LIBTYFI. show was on the 7th & this movement was created on the 5th, sometimes time will bend with you and let you blossom, stress is an idea we cling onto but sometimes with a minor mental shift we are seconds away from freedom. thank you “bob dylan” for keeping it real and messy with us, art & words aren’t always neatly packaged but they are honest and true. that’s why we connect, that’s why we need them.

a passage from LIBTYFI. a section that feels like the heartbeat of the work. 🪢 i hold live art and live dance especially very close to my heart and my being, as it is something that is so rooted and important to me. it can be a truly sacred and almost spiritual experience. creating and witnessing this work in the flesh this past year, has taken that philosophy and made it so concrete to me and my beliefs. while i have definitely shared many things from this project, i haven’t put up anything of this length and entirety until now…simply because i love everything in the context of the entire work and the story it tells. i also believe it and many things hold a deeper connection when seeing it right in front of your own eyes live vs view a 2d film. i have been mostly present in this time of creation and have kept my phone mostly away, as the dance world NEEDS that these days!!! but after all the work, i was able to capture some of my favorite moments in our tech run and a full wide view in our show run all happening on november 7th and both captured on my iphone. and while the show run/audience made things electric something about our tech feels so real, personal, honest and gives us a up close view we wouldn’t typically get and i love that. although the project has always been about being present it was also nice to preserve our little baby in this way. so i leave this here🫀 sections / tracks In My Life -Beatles Miss Misanthrope -Jealous Of The Birds (isolated and reimagined sound by me) Velvet Ring -Big Thief Loose -Daniel Caesar Empty Chairs -Don McLean The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face -Roberta Flack Bookends Theme -Simon and Garfunkel And I Love You So Much-Don McLean Tori Moore - Lighting Designer💡 @tori.moore03 Associate Lighting Designer 🖍️ @sophiavashell All my beautiful, beloved, beyond, angel dancers are tagged <3

An excerpt from our final tech run, “Leave It *Better Than You Found It” !! We feel so alive after our final night with it in New York viewings. “To sway just like It was Friday night And all the lights Will blind me dry And my lullaby Is your sigh And I can feel it When you cry” Friday November 7th, yesterday was a day that seemed to symbolize many things. This year and the growth that has catapulted through us is something that I cherish like soul itself. I have never felt more joy inside creation, it is a beautiful thing not only to find self trust, but to find it once again in others. To carry all hearts like they are your own and to rise in company, how special is it to climb with steady roots around you. The tree we have grown from a single seed and it now has towered and bloomed many flowers. Even as seasons change and leafs fall, we know that time will pass and we will bloom again. “A love once new has now grown old” and age and growing old is privilege. How lucky am I to spend my year in this way, with this piece, and while I won’t deny the endless work I choose to remember most the gifts that came like sunshine, every time it went dark my sun rose again. 🌞 LIBTYFI, you have held me kindly, it was a joy to create you and the family you have given me, who could have imagined it would be so kind?
