We approached @oneplayground North Sydney with a focus on emotional intelligence, selecting materials that balance kinetic energy with contemplative calm. Every texture is a ritual. The tactile density of veined marble and tailored leather grounds the social lounges, while custom-cast resin basins and copper tones in the recovery suites dissolve into atmospheric stillness. We designed the 30-metre marble bar to act as Grill Americano’s spine, a sculpted social stage that invites guests into the heart of the performance. From the generous counter seating, the hum of the dining room meets the high-octane energy of the open kitchen and multiple Josper grills. This isn’t just a place to eat, it’s a space designed for conviviality and movement. We’ve layered the theatre of the kitchen with polished Venetian elegance and old-world Italian glamour, ensuring that whether you’re here for an aperitivo or a late-night steak, you’re always part of the event. The lighting design at @grillamericano_ Sydney does more than just illuminate, it anchors the palatial scale of the room. We designed these custom circular chandeliers to hover over the dining floor like glowing halos, a deliberate nod to the modernist rhythm of the iconic No. 1 Chifley Square building. By day, the sweeping glass façade floods the space with Sydney’s natural light. As the sun sets, the after-dark glow takes over. Low-level table lamps and these sculptural rings cast a moody, flattering light that softens the Italian brutalism of the space, turning a grand dining room into an intimate social stage. While the beach is just steps away, the interior of @tigerfishbar offers a deliberate departure from traditional, sterile coastal venues. We leaned into a palette of lived-in luxury, deep red wall finishes, geometric rugs, and those signature oversized woven rattan pendants that anchor the room.These textures work in tandem with the performance of the nearby open robata grill, adding a layer of warmth and animated energy that keeps the space feeling alive long after the sun sets over Cottesloe. At @tigerfishbar , we utilized the existing character of the heritage building to create framed moments of discovery. This threshold transitions guests from the bright, beachside spirit of the outer dining area into the intimate, high-energy atmosphere of the inner lounge. By layering seating typologies, from casual dining clusters to deep, striped booths, we invite guests to curate their own experience within the space. Traditional hotel gyms and meeting rooms are often an afterthought, polished but sterile. For @captionbyhyatt_kabutochotokyo , we wanted these high-energy zones to feel as expressive as a Kabutocho speakeasy. The fitness studio features a massive, custom mural by Shinjiro Tanaka, embedding the district’s creative pulse directly into the guest experience. We’ve paired robust, honest materials with bold graphic moments to create an environment that motivates and inspires. It’s all part of the brand’s “come as you are” ethos, a lifestyle-driven ecosystem where every corner, even the gym, is shaped by the voices of the community. We treated the connective tissue at @captionbyhyatt_kabutochotokyo , as a canvas for the neighborhood’s story. Moving through the hotels hallways, elevator banks, and transition zones feels like walking through the layered streets of Kabutocho itself. We’ve woven together tactile materials, graphic wayfinding, and site-specific murals by local artists like @adrianhogan to ensure the energy of the social floor follows you all the way to your room. From the brick-inspired flooring to handcrafted touches, these spaces are designed to be warm, expressive, and proudly human. We focused on intuitive layouts and robust materials, layered with small moments of color and personality that continue the brand’s lived-in charm. In line with Caption’s sustainability instincts, we collaborated with local makers to ensure the furniture and joinery support Japanese craftsmanship while keeping the carbon footprint minimal.
