Happy birthday, Galatéa. “Time was relative on the island, and every inhabitant and living creature had its own clock to live by. Some aged with every new season, others with every tide coming in. The girls had been born during a blue moon and celebrated their birthdays approximately every two to three years, whenever another blue moon occurred. The strange thing was that they also aged accordingly. After two years, when they celebrated their first birthday, their appearance was that of one-year-old toddlers. After twenty-four years, they turned, acted, and looked ten years old. By their fourteenth birthday, thirty-five years after they were born, they had turned into beautiful and strong young women.
