Now that the beef is out of the bag I can finally talk about this super cool experience I was apart of in March of 2025. Netflix came by @rosen_sound to rent a Minimoog, TR-808, a Mooger Fooger 12-stage phaser and to get some consulting for a home studio setup for one of the characters on Beef Season 2. Turns out the character, also named Josh, was gonna be played by Oscar Isaac and I got to help the props team by recommending other home studio pieces to acquire to complete the his character’s studio, deliver all the gear to Malibu, fully assemble it and make sure it was functional. I then trained the props master how to run everything and thought my job was done… Then they asked me to come back, but this time to personally train Oscar Isaac how to play the Minimoog. Specifically parts of two Hot Chip songs as his character in a later scene gets invited on stage to perform with Hot Chip. Oscar, having been in a ska band before (as I was informed-of by his A24 handler), did not need much training at all, but he did need help dialing in the sounds and learning each possible part he might be playing on the songs. I even showed him how his character’s studio worked and made sure something interesting happened when they pressed start on the 808. Once again, I thought my job was done… Turns out, Oscar personally asked for me to return to set for the filming of the Hot Chip scene as he felt more comfortable having me there in case he needed me. They gave me a walkie and a little space to sit and watch the scenes being filmed on my laptop. I got to witness the arrival of Hot Chip and chat with them while waiting in line for craft services discussing how to properly pronounce “Moog.” It was super fun and I wasn’t really needed too much, but I was very happy to be on my first real set. I did end up saving the day in a small way but that story is too long for this post. Apparently the Minimoog may have it’s own story arc in the series as Oscar Isaac’s character might sell it for money at some point to get the Behringer version instead, lol. It’s gonna be interesting to see how that all plays out. All eight eps premiere today on Netflix! Wild, eh?

We had to say goodbye to our soft and sweet son Murphy last week after he’d been quietly battling an aggressive form of lymphoma for the past couple of very difficult months. This was especially hard as we’d only had him two years as of January 2nd and the shelter said he was only 1.5 years old when we got him which tracked with his big puppy energy. However, his oncologist said she thinks he is more like 6 instead of 3.5 when she met him but I guess that’s part of the mystery with a shelter pup. He was so very soft and so very handsome. He loved to eat, play, destroy soccer balls, bite at flies both real and imaginary, lay in interesting positions but most of all he loved to sleep; often under the cover of a comfy blanket. We were so very lucky to have known him and be loved by him. We miss Murph so much. 💔

i’m beyond thrilled to have a song in @m3gan 2.0! “bonbon” was the first song i wrote/produced for and with @lou_rebecca over eight years ago which was later released on our album “restless” via @holodeckrecords in 2019 mixed by my main man michael mccay aka @silkrodeo ! it’s also the one track i sing on. having loved the first film, it was such an honor to hear our song played on screen with the acting styles of @timmysharp from undeclared, @ajemaine_clement of flight of the concords and @ivannasakhno from ahsoka! 💜 if you go see it, pay attention during the scenes at alton appleton’s 25th anniversary party! 😉

my good guy… our bestest boy… i’ve never seen such devotion to a human from an animal or to an animal from a human as i witnessed on a daily basis with dax and @calliepoindexter for the last seven years. i will miss our naps on the couch, your head in my lap, our spoons in the bed and our strolls along the river. i’ll even miss your sneezes in my face but i’ll especially miss your warm hugs and super soft coat. i hope you and sussudio are playing together somewhere. thank you for bringing us so many happy moments and memories; our love for you will never fade. 💜

The songs hit me like a ton of bricks upon first listen; I hear everything from Jean-Michel Jarre to Julee Cruise and even the film Spring Breakers. Last night we had to say goodbye to my precious lady Sussudio. I am forever changed by her presence and love which she relentlessly showed on a day-to-day basis. She has been there for me in the lowest most lonely moments of my life and always managed to provide the comfort I needed in those times. Since day one she was the cat for me; named after one of my favorite songs that popped up on my ipod as we drove home for the first time. She was lucky to spend the last several years in LA with me and Callie who worked from home and got to have her all to herself 24/7. Even though she was a little escape artist at times, we let her go play outside in the sunshine this week for the first time. She loved sniffing and eating the grass. We listened to her song at -20% speed last night so the moment would last longer. I don’t think I had ever done that; it was so good. She was such a good kitty right until the very end. I feel so lucky I got to have her and that many of you got to meet her over the years. Thanks for being so sweet my baby girl. Rest in Purwer Sussudio 2005-2022 💜
