Carl Jung said, “Life really does begin at 40. Up until then, you are just doing research.” Well this is my thesis. A 2 year long creative endeavor I am challenging myself with that I’m calling 40 for 40. Which starts today on my birthday.
40/40 is a project where I bring 40 creative things to fruition culminating on my 40th birthday. From visual, movement, events, music, products, business… I want to explore it all. Because if I exist in a multifaceted way across timelines why not experience it all in this one. This is a reminder to me and to anyone else that you can reinvent at any age and stage of life. I am giddy at the thought of witnessing my evolution.
So here’s 1/40. Dream.

We are constantly exposed to war footage, crisis headlines, economic fear, and stories of suffering.
Even if it's far away, your brain doesn't really know the difference. So our brains can enter a low-level stress response without us even realizing it! (Wild!!?)
Our bodies start holding stress in subtle ways. (Tight shoulders, clenched jaw, fatigue, overwhelm.)
So that's why we are doing this, because what's happening in the world is MASSIVE, complex, and just overwhelming! We need to process it, express it, and move it.
You don't have to carry the entire world in your body to care about it!
A regulated more connected you is more present, more CREATIVE, and more capable of contributing to the world. :)

Take my word, do the 16hr layover in Korea. 😆 I love the incheon airport for transits but leaving the airport and exploring is so fun. Made it through with Google Maps and vibes. Using the train was a little stress inducing but I can do hard things 😅. And grateful to that one Korean man who walked me what felt like miles at the hongik uni station to my proper platform. Shoutout Google Translate and my elementary Korean skills. Need to plan a proper trip. More solo travel & travel in general in the year of the horse.

This all started with me taking off my jacket and saying “just in case.” Then this lovely TSA lady started to sing Jaheim’s song just in case and we proceeded to have a full dance break. The absolute best way to start my trip.
We often get caught up in getting to our destination that we ignore all the magical moments of the journey. We could all use more human connection so I challenge you to connect with the people along the way. If you don’t live every moment, you might miss creating a memory like this one.
The energy of sincere connection and laughter is pure magic. She said that I ‘understood the assignment’ and I receive that compliment with the highest regard. I am thankful to this woman for being a light in this moment. Life is such a gift.
