This Don Papa commission was first conceived to be a classic projection mapping project but some amazing LED installation opportunities came up and what’s a girl to do… Such a different process as creative choices are made due to imagined considerations - how light pollution and projector brightness/settings would effect the various layers in the rendered composition, would the ‘mini worlds’ actually be visible inside the multiple windows, how would larger imagery work across comparitively limited wall space, and how would a short 30 second piece created on a 60cm wide screen translate across a MASSIVE building in-terms of speed and balance of revealed narratives... music totally helps with that so ace to work directly with @jem_stone_panufnik but still totally nerve racking!!!

Whirl wind 5 day trip to India shown back to front in pictures … the smooth utter chaos of it all was weirdly relaxing (maybe not for PM @wilkiewilkinson 😂) definitely moments with computers wobbling in the 40 degree heat whilst inhaling lots of dust (and other drama’s) but they pulled it out the bag well done guys @iambenfrancis@stevebewleys and team (super grateful to be part of the advance (not with a d on the end) crew
No time to venture too far beyond Delhi and Mumbai sites but that in itself was a peak into a world that is just flipping bonkers amazing… bare foot riggers were the highlight ❤️ … oh and being herace fenced into the arena was quite fun (had to clamber up over wobbly scaff onto stage, under an over works in progress - through squishy mud (maybe mud) to get to our portacabin (and back the same way to front of house ❤️) I also quite enjoyed the tent covering all the front of house rigs being removed with legs nearly taking out machines / humans in the dark with the event up and running without warning etc etc etc ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
… and then it was over….

In flight entertainment was basically watching the map to see which route we would take to avoid the war … which was over Mount Ararat fittingly where apparently the human race was reborn after the great floods and Noah’s ark is laid to rest no less

First R&D day with a thrown together set with @bobinks878 a new little webcam (OMG the studio is back in action ❤️) exploring the beginnings of a labyrinth of huge interactive tree trunks … the big vision is for it to act as a set for a scene from the centre of #Caulabyrinth (a living film in the making) but also for it to be experienced as a large scale public art installation and workshop space with @headofhouse_designs and the dream team… lots of exciting creative tech tests in the mean time

A shout out to the Thames Waterbug Action Team Society (T.W.A.T.S) who played a massive part of making the projection on #EelPieIsland and River Thames come to be … all the brainstorming whilst meeting on / in the water … all the bonkers tests (eg projector, generator and my MacBook on little & infamous boat ‘cutlass’ with three of us acting as a leverage to hit the top of the trees 😂 ) … all the shared love for the river and its wildlife, and not least for helping form the best community ever at the #thefollybooth (+ not being shy of getting in costume) .:: roll on summer time for more ‘board meetings’ (although not so good for projection)
Here’s some outtakes from the #Twickapotamus edit (pinned to grid) which celebrated the launch of the @thefollybooth … (for those who missed it there were loads of other playful activities and performances on the slipway for all generations with a whole amazing crew an cast ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ) This is just a little nod to the river, local history and the joy of projecting on nature… more to come in 2026 🤞

Huge thanks to those who came to witness #Twickapotamus, our epic reimagining of the mythical Folly, a notorious floating den of iniquity that was moored along these very banks of the Thames in the mid-1700s.
Our performers, artists and musicians loved remixing mischievous and decadent Regency vibes into an exotic and psychedelic twist that merged projections, costumed actors and dancers into a dazzling and fully immersive experience.

OMG it’s LIVE WooooHoooooo… so those who don’t know @peer_studios has become a pop up home to the live making of Caulabyrinth - a short film (long in the making) … This years scene is an epic vision, humbly coming to life live @ventnorfringe using a model made world created by Bob Hinks and shot by Alex Reid which I have tuned into a projected experience in the basement with music by @jem_stone_panufnik . The long term aim of this live work in progress is for it to become an entire scene of the film - composited with live action to be shot on location on the Island with the support of local crew and cast.
An ode to The Ivory Tower in The Never Ending Story (which I watched over and over again when I was about six) … this is the Caulabyrinth temple lost through the mists of time… a modern place of worship ? A lost Empire? A nice cool place to hide from the chaos?
Apparently the original melted under studio lights in 20mins or something but luckily Bob made this beaut light, durable and lit from within so (due to budget and space restrictions) we shot it outside and I got back to where it all began and stitched and ironed a blue sheet !!! Bob and I built a screen which we’re a quite a dab hand at now (not quite the immersive installs we’re used to but worked a bloody treat) Then we both became Alex’s assistants as he basically took charge of the show and made the dream come true in cinematic form with a bonkers borescope lens… so fun

Countdown has begun to the grand opening of the immersive installation in the basement @peer_studios where you can travel in time to a place of worship deep within Caulabyrinth
There are so many stages to creating a live action based projected world … the first (& easiest bit) is the vision… then the dream making team work their magic #BobHiinks @alexreiddop this time round whilst I’m a glorified runner basically … The final stages in this case is the animation and VFX and prepping it for Resolume .. before that I’m humping kit, making tea and mainly being Bob’s vaguely competent assistant … Oh yeah and then there’s the building of a ‘Time Machine’ (previous reel) oh and the small moving house thing (wish the Time Machine was ready then)… icing on the cake will be music by @jem_stone_panufnik and some sign writing by our eldest .. Can’t wait to share more of the making pics eek eek
