Pop in and see new paintings by Robert Carter who is a traditional oil painter. Robert's paintings hold
whimsical themes that evoke joy often combine nostalgia, childlike wonder, and a touch of magical realism, intentionally breaking the monotony of everyday life. These themes emphasize playfulness, curiosity, and the beauty found in small, unexpected details.
Plus we have the wonderful @francissafaiebrown reciting his poetry on Sunday the 17th May at 4pm, this is a free event. And we would love you to show him some support.

Peer Studios & Gallery CIC will be shutting its doors in September.
In the beginning we thrived and managed to live up to our ethos, of creating a space for artists and our community. Since the road closures and other infrastructure difficulties, its been hard to get people through our doors.
But! We plan on going out with a bang.. we have 4 months left, so we need you, and your support.
If you are a creative and would like to display and sell with us? Get involved. We would love to make these 4 months the best yet.. Summer is on its way, and the gallery looks at its best in the sunshine 🌞 if you run painting workshops? our pop up event over the fringe may well be up your street?
This isn't a sad post, it's an optimistic, celebratory & proud post of what you can achieve in 4 years... thank you all for being involved. Let's make the last 4 month's worthwhile.

This year, we invite you to experience LOOK UP-ART FOR THE OFFLINE MIND- Our mission is dedicated to giving you the chance to explore creativity. No devices, no pressure, just the joy of painting. At the heart of our Fringe offering is our open call Exhibition, showcasing artists who explore what happens when we put our phones down and return to our senses. The gallery becomes a phone-free zone, designed for deep looking, quiet curiosity, and genuine connection with the art in front of you. Alongside the exhibition, we're opening our doors for Pop-In & Paint sessions throughout the festival. Drop by, pick up a brush, and lose yourself in colour. No booking needed. No experience expected. Just a welcoming space filled with music, light, and materials ready for you to play with. Stay for ten minutes or two hours- this is creativity as a reset button. For those wanting something a little more guided, join us for Sip & Paint: Offline & In Colour, a relaxed daytime session where you can enjoy a drink while creating your own artwork inspired by music and bold expression. Phones go in a basket at the door, and the room fills with conversation, laughter, and the simple pleasure of colour in motion. Young & Old welcome!

We need YOU! We have now added our event to the Ventnor Fringe Festival 2026 programme but we need artists to get involved in this years event.
We’re inviting artists of all disciplines to explore what happens when we step away from our screens and return to our senses. “LOOK UP” is a celebration of imagination, reflection, and the creative spark that only appears when the digital noise fades.
We’re looking for work that:
- Captures the feeling of being fully immersed in the moment
- Explores the tension between digital distraction and creative flow.
- Invites viewers to pause, breathe, and reconnect with themselves
All mediums welcome: painting, sculpture, photography, textiles & mixed media,
The Experience:
This exhibition will be intentionally phone‑free. Visitors will be encouraged to pocket their devices and step into a space designed for deep looking, curiosity, and quiet delight.
Submission Details
- Open to artists on the Isle of Wight and beyond
- Submit up to 3 works
- Include a short statement on how your piece relates to the theme of presence, attention, or digital detachment.
Ventnor welcomes lots of people over the Ventnor Fringe and this is your chance to exhibit in a beautiful gallery on the walk down to Ventnor bay
