The NJ JSU Berrie Ambassadors is a leadership cohort of outstanding Jewish public school teens committed to community engagement beyond the JSU club. I’ve had the opportunity to spend Shabbat with these teens, so I wasn’t surprised by their meaningful insights about Judaism and deep questions about the world. But I was blown away by their willingness to put in hours of work, learn new skills, and bond as a team, all without a phone in sight. More than anything, they internalized the idea of “Kiddush Hashem,” being a representative of the Jewish people. They felt that their actions meant something bigger than the wall they were painting or the door they were installing.
I’m so proud of my husband Shalom for making the Berrie cohort what it is and for running an amazing trip!
Thank you @ou_relief and Oran for organizing our trip.
Thank you Nicole for opening your home to us! It was an honor getting to know you and your story.
