I rarely post work on here, but this one is special. a few years ago, our friend Paul went on a run and had an idea. from this defining moment—an otherwise ordinary run on a normal day—a slew of creativity, existentialism, hope, fear, mental clarity, and yes, big dreaming, followed.
together, we started a footwear brand. the best part is that we built it from scratch, knowing all too well how close success and failure can be in a business like this. we took the leap anyway.
OTIVM, from the Latin term otium, speaks to a life of creativity, leisure, and deep reflection. this brand is our meditation on self-preservation—how we find our way through the chaos and into enlightenment. insanity now. serenity later.

恭喜发财 💫 it’s fitting that it is the year of the Horse — a symbol of valiant power and instinct. I feel deeply tuned these days to live much differently than I have in the last twenty years. So much of this decade has been spent looking inward, trying to make sense of who I am, what I’ve lost — riddled with nostalgia, faced with the grim reaper that taunts us on our phones, and in every decision we make in our lives...too often plagued by the hourglass that seems to pace faster and faster every day. I’ve moved on from thinking this way. I’m being sincere when I say I want to embrace the momentum of a life lived outside and offline. Away from the doldrums of social media. Deep in nature. In the arms of my loved ones. Learning from my mentors. And finding myself again through the joy of art and poetry (both of which have never failed me). I hope you’ll join me. happy new year.
Last weekend, we reunited upstate to send our Stevie down the aisle to marry his dream girl. So many memories of our 20s in New York throwing caution to the wind - it was beautiful to see how we’ve all grown. Love you @careysteven@marylaurenw ♥️
