Anubis Shrine of Tutankhamun This striking statue of Anubis sits on the sliding lid of a shrine-shaped casket. The entire shrine rests on a ceremonial litter used to carry the god’s image during processions. It was discovered at the entrance to the Treasure Room, positioned with its nose facing the burial chamber, likely meant to intimidate and ward off intruders. When found, the statue was wrapped in a linen cloth dating back to the seventh year of Akhenaten’s reign, with only the head left uncovered. Around its neck were a finer scarf, an additional cloth, and a garland of lotus and lily flowers. Resting between the front paws was an ivory scribe’s tablet once owned by Meritaten, one of the six daughters of Akhenaten and Nefertiti. The guardian statues of Tutankhamun are a pair of life-sized, gilded figures that once stood at the entrance to his burial chamber, serving as protectors of the king’s resting place. Carved from wood and coated in black resin, they shimmer with gold details and portray the young pharaoh dressed in a kilt, holding a mace and a staff. These statues were meant to act as spiritual doubles (Ka), ensuring Tutankhamun’s eternal protection and safe passage into the afterlife. Decorated Chariot of Tutankhamun One of the most breathtaking pieces from Tutankhamun’s treasure collection is the Golden Chariot, catalogued as reference number 122. Crafted over 3,300 years ago, this masterpiece wasn’t just ceremonial, it was engineered for real use. Its lightweight wooden frame, covered in shimmering gold, showcases the extraordinary skill of ancient Egyptian artisans. Among its striking details is the depiction of a hawk, a powerful symbol of Horus. This majestic emblem represented divine protection and royal authority, making it a fitting guardian for the young pharaoh as he rode in this magnificent vehicle. Imagining this chariot racing through the desert or accompanying Tutankhamun in royal processions makes history feel wonderfully alive. This remarkable vehicle offers a vivid window into the splendor of the New Kingdom’s Late 18th Dynasty, the era of Tutankhamun (ca. 1332–1323 BC). Few artifacts capture the majesty of a bygone era as powerfully as this golden throne. Our solar system formed about 4.5 billion years ago from a dense cloud of interstellar gas and dust. The cloud collapsed, possibly due to the shockwave of a nearby exploding star, called a supernova. When this dust cloud collapsed, it formed a solar nebula – a spinning, swirling disk of material. #ClipOfTheDay #Mirage3D #FulldomeLibrary #Space

Prof. Dr. Heino Falcke @hfalcke just saw the fulldome film #BlackHoleFirstPicture for the first time which he commissioned back in 2019, together with @radboud_uni , @es_spitz and @mirage3dstudios “What a wonderful film it has become! Got a private screening of the planetarium film “Black Hole - First Picture” by its director Robin Sip in #Omniversum: beautiful scenery, emotions, understandable science, land, sky, telescopes, people, dreams. I was touched and felt at home.”
