Fuvahmulah: The Maldives’ Hidden Gem
Tucked away in the second southernmost atoll of the Maldives, Fuvahmulah is a one-of-a-kind destination unlike any other island in the archipelago. A scenic 90-minute flight from Velana International Airport brings you to this lush paradise, where vibrant greenery meets dramatic coastlines.
Fuvahmulah’s most unique feature is its pebble beach, shaped by powerful waves that unusually smoothen out the tiny rocks—the only one of a kind beach in the Maldives. The island is steeped in tradition, with locals thriving on fishing and farming. But in recent years, it has also become a world-class diving hotspot, offering the incredible opportunity to swim with pelagic and tiger sharks just off its shores.
During my visit, I stayed at @maathundi , a top-tier guesthouse located near the breathtaking Thūndu beach. Waking up to panoramic ocean views and dining at their scenic restaurant was truly unforgettable. The island is vast and packed with adventures—from its serene nature park and lakes to the famous mud bath experience, said to rejuvenate the skin.
