“Corpocutie” by Andrei Mendiola 🖤💖🤍 In a world of black and white, “corpocutie” celebrates the shades of in-between. Corporate aesthetics like blazers, dress shirts, and wool blends meet flounces, frills, and pastels to create looks reminiscent of iconic mid-2000s styles. Inspired by the designer’s background as a male collector of Barbie dolls, corpocutie is about owning and flaunting your individuality wherever you go, regardless of societal expectations and standards. Closing segment for “Corpocutie” from “Vanitas: The UP Clothing Technology Graduation Show 2025” by Andrei Mendiola through the lens of Arnold Cadayona 👔📈✏️📌👓 This collection is one of the most fun and unhinged pieces from Vanitas as it plays around the concept of corporate clothing and bending it beyond its usual black and white representation. This inspired me to use a walk of mine that is an exaggeration of the strict modern runway style while blending it with unhinged rather-frowned-upon turns which is inspired by local trans pageant scenes. I went back to my earliest runway style which I would define as sharp, edgy, and statuesque. What I love about this style of walk is its fun forwarded hipbone while having leaned back upper torso as it also takes inspiration from design sketches. It also works well with long fitted pieces like this look. The turns are added flair that further highlighted the ruffles of this piece. Seeing my creations take the runway last Saturday, January 11, was an absolutely surreal, unforgettable experience. As a struggling science high school student, scrolling through the Graduation Fashion Show Facebook page would only leave me feeling more inspired to get into BS Clothing Technology–it’s such an honor to have my work be part of this amazing legacy 🪡 In a world of dichotomies, “corpocutie” celebrates the shades of in-between. Formal aesthetics like tailored suits, dress shirts, and wool blends meet pastels, frills, and flounces, because nobody ever has to limit themselves to fit societal norms. It was never easy growing up as the boy with dolls. However, my passion for dolls, fashion, and other “girly” interests are a huge part of who I am, and I owe it to my 12-year-old-self to never be ashamed of that. As I enter a new (much-dreaded) stage of life, “corpocutie” is a reminder to never let go of the quirks that make me who I am 🎀 This collection would not have been possible without the support of everyone around me. To my fellow student designers @updbsct2025 , I cannot thank you guys enough for welcoming me into your batch with open arms(?). I will surely miss terrorizing your DMs to bond over our mutual lack of progress 🤪 To our Set A models, Maru, Orbi, Martin, Grayson, Alysa, and Bie, I couldn’t imagine “corpocutie” coming to life in any other way 👠 To our CT professors, faculty, and staff, thank you for your teachings, encouragement, and endless ̶d̶e̶a̶d̶l̶i̶n̶e̶ ̶e̶x̶t̶e̶n̶s̶i̶o̶n̶s̶ consideration 🥰 To life, thank you for the endless blessings that make my world complete 👼🏻 Finally, I would like to thank everybody who has ever believed in me.
