Closing segment for “Artesano” by Katy Baillo from “Vanitas: The UP Clothing Technology Graduation Show 2025” through the lens of Zone 5 and Arnold Cadayona 🪨🍂🏛️
The last collection that I walked for in Vanitas is Artesano. This, being the finale for me, is probably the most challenging part of the show as I was aiming to showcase a variety of runway walks.
As the designer takes inspiration from her multiple disciplines in the academe, both as a former fine arts student and now a young fashion designer, I resonated with her personal contradiction that made this collection notable. Such contradictions were seamlessly blended to create this intersection of fine arts and fashion that translates to eco-conscious wearable art. As I am also an irregular student who had a career crisis between engineering and the arts, I realized that these contradictions should not be interpreted as a weakness but as an exemplary strength that only those who went through its process can manifest— a beauty executed by Kath through Artesano.
With similar inspiration, of a muse and a creative, of modern and classic, of a blend of what is seemingly contradictory, I thought of this closing walk to resemble the iconic 90s models’ walk. It is also I statement wherein I personally second to the projection of this trend in modeling to make a major comeback— highlighting the personality of models and their creative interpretation of the designers’ vision.

“JuneChild” by my Yasha Rosales through the lens of Zone 5, Arnold Cadayona, and Sof Hurtado
JuneChild is a haunting intersection of the past and present— where childhood nostalgia takes on an almost-eerie yet elegant form. It is a world where young designer Yasha reimagines her childhood collection of dollhouses as a wardrobe, stitching together memory and mystery through cascading doll hair, reflective mirrors, and the quiet allure of the inanimate. A collection that feels both intimate and otherworldly, suspended between play and possession.

Started the walk elegantly like the modern long gown runway walks then transitioned into a semi-theatrical walk imitating a ballerina’s turn as the collection takes inspiration from “Swan Lake” and the swan’s journey through its dreams, curse, and flight.
