Time is tight for young Detroit artists who want to join the Mint Creative Summer Jobs program. They need to contact us by Wednesday - yes, tomorrow - and include a sample of their art. And they must be registered with Grow Detroit's Young Talent, or GDYT, by then too.

Artist Hubert Massey of @Hubert Massey Murals & Frescos is a quiet giant in Detroit's art scene, and one of the few Black fresco artists in the world. He also is a co-founder of Mint Artists Guild and never opens his home to guests, except for Mint Masterpieces this Saturday. Thanks to everyone who bought a cookie or three from our pilot Creative Cookies fundraiser at Art in the Trees. And thank you to Minterns from the School at Marygrove - Genene, Azzure and Angelo - for developing this for Mint and spending a chilly Saturday volunteering to test it. Next time, we will bring hot tea!
We will debut a new cookies and art sticker later this week in the Mint Shop online as part of this effort, and hope for some new cookie paintings this summer. If you missed it, we will share more about thos partnership at our Mint Masterpieces ticketed fundraiser on May 2, hosted by Hubert and Marquitta Massey.

One night only, artist Hubert Massey and his wife Marquitta open their art-filled home for a 'party with a purpose' fundraiser. This Mint Masterpieces on May 2 is hosted by a co-founder of Mint Artists Guild. Hubert Massey is one of the only Black fresco artists in North America and his work graces the Flint Institute of Arts , the @detroitathleticclub , Huntington Place and much more. It features the Massey's beautiful 100-year-old home and art collection, music, delicious food and drinks, a silent auction and a chance to get to know some of Detroit's most creative people. We are so thrilled to see Symphony Bland's giant puppet debut at Festifools in Ann Arbor. Here she puts the top piece in place before the puppet parade began on Sunday afternoon. Symphony worked with Mint last summer and created this puppet as part of a community art class at University of Michigan. Way to go, Symphony! And Go Blue!
