A Formula E car. Straight through Arnhem. In one single take.
Over the past few years, I’ve had the chance to work on some truly special film shoots—but this one ranks right near the top.
Last month, during Arnhem Electricity Week, Nyck de Vries drove his Formula E car straight through the city of Arnhem—right through regular traffic and past iconic locations like the John Frost Bridge, Sonsbeek Park, GelreDome, and even along the trolleybus lanes.
Just making this possible took the team over a year of preparation.
I had the honor of co-directing, producing, writing, and editing the film.
We worked with a large (film) crew: • 4 camera operators • 2 drone pilots + 1 FPV drone pilot • A camera car with a crane • Photographer, Producer, Director, and Editor on set We planned every camera angle, route, and timing in advance—because we only had one shot.
A single take, in the middle of the day, with police escorts, follow cars, drones, on-site crew, and crowds throughout the city.
A film production that came together like a choreographed performance. Absolutely incredible!
The film shows how Formula E serves as a symbol for the energy transition—
a movement that has been underway in Arnhem for quite some time.
From the trolleybuses to the innovative companies based here,
it’s a tribute to the electricity capital of Europe.
