So the first thing I sewed while living on the Italian riviera is the @nhpatterns #rivieratrousers…instead of a picture of them on said Riviera, you’re getting me stood in a wardrobe 🤷🏼♀️
I LOVE this pattern. It’s really well drafted and the fly instructions resulted in the neatest one I’ve ever sewn.
I used the slash pocket hack and the 28” inseam. The only change I made was to make the waistband thinner so I could lower them slightly without having to mess with the rise.
10/10 recommend!
We’re back in Italy for a while and I realised the one thing I could do improve my vita italiana was to be able to sew while I’m here so looky 👀 what arrived yesterday.
Of course I went with an Italian brand because perché no? Decided on a mechanical because less to break and really, all I need is straight stitch, zigzag and a buttonhole feature. It’s obvs not a patch on my beautiful Bernina but I’m sure we’re going to be buoni amici in no time 🤩

Spent last weekend out at John C Cambell assisting the ever excellent @thedailysew in teaching how to make a pattern from an existing garment. We had such a great group of students. Finished up with some well earned g&ts on the porch 👌
If you ever any to take a craft class I highly recommend the folk school. Such a great spot!
You guyssss…blocking did me dirty 😭😭😭😭
And before you ask, yes I swatched, yes I blocked my swatch, no it didn’t grow.
I have no idea how or why this happened but my little knitting heart is broken I tell thee 🧡💔😩😢
How I felt after finally finished my @petiteknit #stormsweater 🤣 I started this big beautiful beast in November using beautiful Lana Gatto merino yarn that I purchased in Budapest during the summer. It’s a straight forward pattern but wow it felt like a labor of love 🧡 ❤️…she’s blocking as I write this so here’s hoping it was worth it!
Now I’m sure you’re all looking at this thinking “what a well made pair of trousers” and you’d be 100% correct…in fact, they might be the best sewn pair I’ve ever made except they are an epic *SEWING FAIL* 🙄🙄🙄
They fit amazingly
The fly is the neatest I’ve ever constructed
They’re the right length (without me having to hack 5” off!!)
Buttttt….
THE FABRIC IS AWFUL! 😣 I tried to use something from my stash, ignoring the fact it probably wasn’t quite right because I was desperate to just make….rookie mistake or what?!
They make that awful swish swish sound of hiking trousers 🤢 and they just don’t hang right either.
The pattern is #nhriviera and it is epic! Seriously one of the best patterns I’ve ever used…now I just need to dig out the desire to start again 🫣
Has this ever happened to you?
What is happening?! Another post?!
My other make of the year so far was also finished in January (too cold to go outside so lots of sewing happened)
When @sewgeekie kindly gave me some vintage patterns I knew I needed to make this simplicity one immediately!
Luckily it coincided nicely with a mini fabric sale with my local sewing group where I scored this beautiful @blackbirdfabrics viscose from the lovely @redbeanrambling who luckily for me always bus the best fabrics and was willing to part with some!
Mods:
- shortened bodice by about 3/4”
- shortened length by *ahem* 5 inches 😆
- narrowed shoulders by widening shoulder darts - I bloody love shoulder darts!
Definitely had no need for a dress like this but I love it so much I don’t bloody care
Hiii! Decided it was time to start regularly sharing my makes on here again - I miss chatting with you kids!
Butttt I don’t miss the pressure of taking the “good” pics so it’s just going to be whatever from here on out 😆
Here’s my first make of the year
Pattern: Zina shirt from The Fabric Store
Fabric: the most beautiful coral flannel from @sewingstudiofabrics (I’m so excited to say MY LOCAL STORE!!)
Oh and mushroom print in the collar and cuffs is cotton and steel
Hi! Remember me? 2025 started out with a big make…making a mess of my face that is (Passed out from flu, broke a bone in my face and destroyed my front tooth) so the year has been dictated by dental appointments and surgeries, BUT I have been making so figured I’d drop by and share my 2025 makes with you all.
I have all the details of all the makes written out but it was too much work to tag everyone and it didn’t fit in the word count so if you want details just let me know 😀
May your 2026 be full of fun crafting adventures and lest of world ending feels of 2025!
Over the summer I was lucky enough to go to the Dolce & Gabbana exhibition in Milan. I’ve never really been into their clothes but oh man was it worth it 😱
It was one of the most extravagant and elaborate exhibitions I’ve ever seen. It was so well curated and being able to get up close and see the details has left me with a new respect and love for them.
For the vibes my favorite room was the “Sicilian room” it was circus themed with amazing colours and music but for the nerdy sewist it was by far the “Ateliers room” where on certain days they were actually working there - I loved seeing the mini versions.
The show has finished now but it’s set to travel as of 2025 so I highly recommend you keep an eye out for it and go if you can!
I honestly left feeling a little dizzy…in a good way!
