For the first time in my career I'm fully independent. This has been 10+ years in the making.
I'm going to be releasing music through my own label
@minerva and published through
@minerva Publishing.
This is so rare for things to line up in this way, but I couldn't be more excited. I had a wonderful time working with different labels and companies over the years, but now's the time to set off on my own. I feel like I earned it. It's time to own my own work.
While I've always had full creative freedom, it's different when you have more skin in the game to experiment and push myself as an artist.
This current environment hasn't been kind to musicians, but this is the most excited I've been about making music in a long time. This cambrian explosion of new platforms and outlets that cut out all the previous middlemen are making this feasible for somebody in my position. It's the best time ever to be an independent artist. 🦾
Whether that's subscription models like
@patreon , streaming on
@twitch , or the amazing stuff happening in web3/ethereum in the form of community tokens like $RAC, digital scarce art with NFTs, metaverse concerts and wearables in
@decentralandoficial , and many more. This is an entirely new medium and the future is bright.
I think back to 2019 and how bleak the landscape was. We were all so singularly focused on getting on playlists and we were just at the mercy of these giant platforms. It feels like we've turned a corner and the internet is a fun wild place again. It's exciting. 🌜🌞🌛
I guess to round this out, I just wanna thank my team and everybody that I work with. Thank you to my audience for sticking with me all these years. None of this would be possible without you.
