@mindylee.me had sent me such a beautiful email describing our works and the similarities, I loved it so much that I asked if I could share. These works are part of the show ‘Declarative Language’ on show @amici__art
I’ve added a link to my bio and here is a small extract.
About Kelly’s work- “Walking around the pot allows for a cyclical narrative, stories evolving and flowing into each other with no beginning or end. Depending on where you start to read them will shift how you receive
the next bit of information. Their story changes dependant on the side you begin on. Three pots
together triple’s the complexity of reading, as your eye moves between and around the pots, cross
referencing motives, colours, shapes and words.“
Mindy’s work- “My edges are also imperfect, embracing an irregular shape. I’m also not sharing a complete story.
I’ve physically cut away the bigger picture and removed a lot of other information, (such as place,
colour and solid forms) only sharing fragments of bodies, glimpses into my world.
These paintings share connection through
touch, around love, care and challenges. I’m
drawn to tipping points between emotional
states. There are no answers, no one way, so
the reading of the work changes depending on
the viewer. I also make in a series, often
shown in clusters, so I can encourage cross
referencing without linear narratives.“
A wonderful afternoon visiting Relics, @dawnwoolleystudio solo exhibition @salford_museum
Identity and iconography are explored through, consumerism, branding, advertising and waste. Scavenger birds guard the exhibitions more votive, sacred photography, salvaging through discarded rubbish. The birds themselves are transformed from waste newspapers, giving them a phoenix quality as survivors who have risen.
Really exciting to see how Dawns photography interacts with these new raw sculptural elements. Congratulations @dawnwoolleystudio 🥳🙌🍾
My cheeky face photobombing this picture!

Amici Studio is delighted to present Declarative Language, a group exhibition curated by Kelly Jessiman and Alexis Soul-Gray, bringing together artists whose practices have been shaped by sustained caregiving within families of neurodivergent children.
Public Opening
Saturday 11 April, 12 to 4pm
Emerging from shared lived experience, the exhibition looks at how prolonged responsibility, fractured time and heightened attention reshape artistic language. Under these conditions, materials, gestures and processes take on renewed significance. Making becomes intuitive, precise and responsive – a way of thinking and communicating where language alone is insufficient.
Across sculpture, painting, installation and moving image, the exhibition reflects on how artistic practices evolve when they must coexist with care, adaptation and unpredictability. Rather than limiting creativity, these conditions can sharpen focus and accelerate invention, with material choices becoming declarative in their clarity and insistence.
We are also delighted that Lisha Rooney @lisharoon is developing a new essay to accompany the exhibition.

It's all about the cut. Cutting the practice down.
-clipping isolated moments from memory
-compressing through gestural shorthand
-reduced palette choices
-slashing time creating the final painting
-pinching the frame into the middle of the work
-and finally slicing away excess, physically cropping in towards the centre. Today I looked at the studio floor. These little bits of discarded painting are a small reminder of all consecutive working throughs and editing out, I go through to keep it simple.
These last bits evidence the invisible labour surrounding my practice. I give them a nod before they're swept away .
So glad to see @tamsin_morse work today at @kristinhjellegjerdegallery .Tamsins paintings are packed full of fiery energy, dancing through time, blending domestic, ritual, mythology and imaginings. Toiling figures are partly conjured through thought lines, transforming, shapeshifting and merging ideas and forms. I particularly enjoyed this nitty gritty pig washing scene. The blue brained/netted women determinedly labouring, boxed in and bubbled. They glide through dirt to drips to suds to shirt.
Tomorrow's the last day to catch this exhibition!
