Mind the Gap is an ongoing series of events, bringing together improvised performances in different mediums. ‘Mind The Gap: Open Night’ is a special edition, featuring an ‘open mic’ style element. The night will have 4 curated acts (see the line-up below), alongside at least 4 open acts selected at random from people who put their names forward on the night.
🎤 ‘Cotton Memories’ by Becky Horne & Bun Kobayashi (
@beckyhorne_ ,
@bun.like.bird ) - a performance by two dancers with several short lengths of cotton rope, temporary sculpture and improvised movement, using question-based scores.
🎤 ‘Something to Be Lived In (For Now)’ by Kassy Fang (
@urawayy ) - a live, improvised Ikebana performance using locally gathered plants, spoken reflection, and attentive gesture to explore migration, memory, and care.
🎤 ‘Charlene Live and In-Persons’ by Tessa Parr and Possy (
@rosapossy ,
@tptissy ) - this piece honours the art of ASMR blending mediated sound with profound questions both performers have developed separately.
🎤 ‘Where Greengrocers Sleep’ by Marrianne Tuckman & Mairead Rutter OConnor (
@maireadrutteroconnor ,
@marianneninat ) - an organic engagement where warm bodies meet and half a dozen ideas are hatched.
This night with its own individual constellation of acts will be full of curiosity, creativity and surprises.
Performers (first-timers) calling everyone who wants to get on stage, this night is also for you! 👀
