Working closely with the owner, our design addressed long overdue maintenance while completely renovating and reimagining the interior layout and upgrading and repositioning every window and door for a cohesive result.

On Wednesday, we joined San Francisco Mayor Lurie, City officials, the John Stewart Company, and community partners to celebrate a milestone for the Bayview-Hunters Point community: the grand opening of Hunters View Phase III. This final affordable housing phase delivers 118 new homes.
We -- David Baker Architects - Architect, and Min Design - Associate Architect, alongside Fletcher Studio - Landscape Architect -- are so proud to have collaborated on the final phase of this vital project together, building on DBA’s work on this site for the past 14 years. This project is about building capacity to stay and we think it embodies design for equity.
Hunters View was the first site to break ground under the HOPE SF initiative and this multi-year revitalization has transformed aging infrastructure into a vibrant, mixed-income neighborhood. This project represents a deep investment in housing stability, ensuring that long-time residents can continue to thrive in safe, stable homes in the city they love. This phase completed the replacement of the 267 homes originally built in 1956 and brought the the total number of affordable homes here to more than 400! The site also features new open spaces, a childcare center, a wellness Center, and resident-focused services on-site.
The clients envisioned a home that centers the lake and the surrounding oak trees, creating a clear distinction from the open farmland beyond. The design frames these views with intention, using the structure itself to provide privacy from neighboring properties while opening fully toward the water. #lakeokoboji

Set within a converted warehouse in New York, this penthouse reinterprets industrial structure through a restrained, contemporary lens. In close collaboration with the owner, the design balances the building’s heavy timber framework with a lighter architectural touch, creating a calm, functional home for family life.

Folded steel plates shape the stair at our Tribeca Penthouse project as both structure and experience, drawing light through each level while carving out a tucked-away moment beneath. A precise composition that balances material clarity with a sense of discovery.

A competition-winning installation that reimagines urban signage as a place in itself. “Meet me at COCHRAN” becomes both landmark and gathering point, scaled and articulated to invite movement, pause, and occupation. More than a sign, it functions as a social condenser, offering an alternative public space for quiet encounters and informal connection within the park.

An exploration in modular form, this table set balances precision and fluidity. Composed of six distinct elements, it resolves into a clean rectangular surface or separates into individual pieces that function as tables, benches, or sculptural forms.
Developed through a 3D Voronoi tessellation and CNC-cut in Baltic birch, the result reveals both the rigor of its making and the complexity of its form.

A full-floor build-out for Counsyl, reimagining a former lab into a dynamic, collaborative workplace. Within the constraints of budget and timeline, the design introduces a range of environments from focused workstations to open gathering zones supporting both individual and team-based work.
Strategic interventions, including selective ceiling removal and a bold use of color, transform the space into an atmosphere that feels active, open, and intentional.

Meet E.B. Min, whose designs move fluidly across buildings, interiors, and objects, balancing rigor with delight. “I think of myself as an elegant and joyous problem solver with a very curious nature.” With a foundation in art, architectural history, and design-build landscape work, she brings a layered, inquisitive approach to every project, often exploring the space where disciplines overlap. Thanks @surfacemag for the feature!
