Update!
Thank you for your support – since we put our survey out in June, around 400 local people have taken part. The response has been overwhelmingly in favour of an inclusive space for skating and other wheeled sports in South Millfields Park. Your feedback has made a real difference.
In August, we met with the @hackneycouncil Parks Team on site and shared the survey results. In September, we linked up with @betongpark_ltd , local skatepark builders.
Together, we’ve been working on a proposal for a welcoming public space for skating and other wheeled sports, designed for all ages and abilities and sensitive to its surroundings – within the existing basketball court area, where the two courts will be refurbished and resurfaced.
In October, the proposal was submitted to the Hackney Community Fund – and we’re super excited to say it was successful. We’ve been awarded £120,000 to support the project.
There’s more funding to apply for and more to share soon – but thanks to you, we’re moving closer to making this a reality.
Thank you for being part of this 💛
New Skate Space in Millfields Park?
We’d love to hear what you think… Hackney Council is upgrading the basketball courts in South Millfields Park – and a skate area could be part of the plan.
We’re working together with the Council and local community to explore creating a friendly, inclusive space for skateboarding, scootering, roller skating, and more.
The vision is a space for all ages and skill levels, with green areas to relax, hang out, and connect.
Help shape the space!
