Jess, one of our fantastic Library and Information Assistants, decided to use a disposable camera to take photos of Millennium Library staff working hard packing boxes ahead of our 1.3m refurb. And we’re glad she did, because we rate these photos: SUPER RETRO. And retro is in, so we’re sharing them here.

The Millennium Library as you’ve never seen it before - with empty shelves! But don’t worry, it’s all for good reasons 😎
Staff have been working extremely hard getting the library ready for builders and contractors to get started on an exciting £1.3m refurbishment. The Millennium Library is closed until mid-July, however thanks to the wonderful @theforumnorwich (who are very much open!) we will soon be opening a pop-up library with a selection of adult and children’s stock. What’s more, we will also be hosting regular events in The Forum’s Gallery space - head to the link in bio for event info.
We’re really looking forward to welcoming you to our wonderful refurbished Millennium Library ❤️
The very last box of books being taped up by staff on the first floor of the Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library yesterday afternoon!
In case you’ve missed our numerous posts about it, the @millenniumlibrary Library are having a bit of a refurb so they’re closed until mid-July. Staff have been working extremely hard getting the place ready for contractors to come in and get started on fitting out the new furniture - we’re delighted with the progress and the library team really have gone above and beyond - thanks team, you’re THE BEST.
The temporary closure only affects the Millennium Library - @theforumnorwich itself remains open, and we’ve got a pop-up library opening on Tuesday 5 May - we’ll be on the left as you walk in The Forum.
Plus we’ve got loads of library events taking place in The Forum’s Gallery space - head to the link in bio for event info 😎
Here’s a sneak peek at the space we will be using for a pop-up library during the Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library refurbishment!
On Tuesday 5 May we will be taking over the old Adam From Home location in @theforumnorwich . There will be a selection of stock for both adults and children, plus we will have your reservations available for collection.
We are busy packing up our stock and getting everything ready - but we look forward to welcoming you to our pop-up library soon.
The Millennium Library is now closed until mid-July. Please note this only affects the library - we are tenants in The Forum so they and their other tenants are still open - meaning you can still park your car, eat pizza, grab a coffee from @cafebarmarzano , buy a football shirt from @onthestallcity - it’s JUST the @millenniumlibrary that is closed.
The Norfolk and Norwich @millenniumlibrary Library is now temporarily closed until mid-July for an exciting refurbishment! Please note this is JUST the library, not @theforumnorwich . The Forum, alongside Pizza Express, Marzano, On the Stall City etc will be open as usual. So you can still get your food, coffee and football shirts 😅
During the closure we will be running a whole host of library events in The Gallery in The Forum. Head to the link in bio for event info. What’s more, from Tuesday 5 May we will be hosting a pop-up library in The Forum too! We will have a selection of Millennium Library stock for adults and children, and reservations from other Norfolk libraries will be available to pick up. Most stock from the Millennium Library will however be put into storage during the refurb.
We will keep you up to date on the refurb here and on our Facebook pages too - thank you for your patience while we give the Millennium Library a much-needed make over!
