It’s crazy just reflecting on everything that I have done with music when I never intended to be a musician. I mean, I grew up loving music and my mom always had music playing in the house. My dad always had music in the car mostly classic rock. My mom would listen to like love ballads and I think that’s where I lean towards those big melodies. But it was never my intention. I never grew up saying I’m gonna be a singer. I’m gonna be a musician or a guitar player. My mom had a piano in the house that I would tinker on never had any piano lessons. And I remember wanting to play guitar just because one of my friends had one and could make really cool loud noises with it. But I learned most of it from just like jamming with friends and having a high school band. And then I just didn’t stop. I kind of fell into it and it became a part of me to keep writing songs and performing. Until I eventually was signed our first two singles went number one on billboard and it kind of just took us on a whirlwind path straight into the pandemic. We made some adjustments and I was able to see where my priorities were and the kind of life that I actually wanted to live. But making music will never stop. #singer #songwriter #grunge #rock

As I said, I’ll continue to let you in on the songwriting here. Sometimes musicians like to sit down and write a song I don’t typically schedule my songwriting so I kind of just write what I can until I feel like I’m forcing it and then I just stop and then I just let the rest of the song come to me and eventually it’ll just pop into my head. Oh I know exactly what to do with this now and where to go with it. I’m not saying that sitting down and scheduling a songwriting session doesn’t work because I’ve done that as well. I just don’t prefer it. I like when the art just presents itself. #singer #songwriter #grunge
The key here is knowing the difference and knowing that the difference exists. The biggest issue I see with Young bands and I had this issue as well as knowing when to condense the song before it gets too Progressive and you lose the listener. So it can be a stylistic thing you know if you’re trying to do that be more storytelling or Progressive. But I feel like you have to know both approaches to know when it’s necessary to do each one respectively. Because you can ramble on in the song thinking you’re doing it stylistically and you’re really just not doing the song justice.. so the key is knowing the difference here. #songwriter #singer #singersongwriter #altrock
I’ve never actually released something that I produce here typically when I produce tracks it’s for the purpose of songwriting only it’s not to release it. It’s to basically convey the idea to the band or the producer to then take it from there but with the solo project, there’s no reason not to show you what this phase looks like now eventually if I want to re-record it in a high dollar fashion then we can do that But you know my whole thing is if we can’t make this song sound good like this then maybe the song sucks #singer #songwriter #singersongwriter

Definitely not claiming to be as good as either of these drummers, but definitely the feel that I was referencing here in these two parts. This will also be the first song that I’ve ever actually recorded drums for. That’s what’s been fun about the solo project is tracking everything now most of the string instruments. I’ve tracked in the past for a lot of of my songs and bands, but never drums. I was fortunate enough to always have a great drummer in the band so I didn’t have to. But as a songwriter, you have to have a grasp on what the drums will be doing, so I had a lot of say in opinions on what the drums would do in this song because a lot of times I was writing the song. But they actually record. It is a whole different ball game and it’s been a lot of fun. These songs don’t need overly complicated drum parts. They just need the right feel. Can you actually hear the difference in the feel of each of these drum beats? #drums #drummer #songwriter
I mean, I think that’s why fashion and music are so cyclical because the world just runs on nostalgia. And you’re right the jnco jeans and hacky sacks that whole image just brings you right back to you know your middle school days or high school days whenever that was for you. I’m here for it. You never know where inspiration will come from. I’m right in the middle of working on this new one and then @mtstrenk306 posted he was getting rid of this pedal so I went ahead and jumped on it. Now this pedal from @earthquakerdev I have used before and actually I used it on the lead guitar in the song with The Violent fingerprints. But when played clean like this, it has this trippy nostalgic feel to me like even as far back as the Beatles but then like a Soundgarden type vibe to it as well almost like a black hole sun thing which is obviously super cool to me. But I think this would be a nice texture to have in this song to kind of take it a little bit out of that Americana Lane. What do you think? #guitar #guitarist #altrock #rockmusic
This is as raw as it gets. This is not hiding about anything. It’s again just a cell phone video and audio. So here’s what I’m thinking this verse will go into. I can hear so many of my influence is bleeding through in this one and so many different ways. I can also hear the product production that could be on this with some really great harmonies and counter melodies. I think it’s coming along. #singer #songwriter #indie #grunge
