Being and becoming in LA

We visited LA to undertake some chaotic field research before launching our newest “Home from Home”, a bricks-and-mortar store here in the summer.
To unpick the stereotypes, get under the skin of the city, and find out about the real Los Angeles from people we admired.
LA for us, feels fluid, multi-faceted and totally intriguing and cannot wait to have a permanent Home in LA from July.

We visited LA to undertake some chaotic field research.
To unpick the stereotypes, get under the skin of the city, and find out about the real Los Angeles from people we admired (our Miista Crowd).
All before launching our newest “Home from Home”, our new bricks-and-mortar store coming to LA this summer.
We crafted a playful conversational experiment that would give us a better sense of Los Angeles as a place, a conversation led by @billiejdporter while standing on Miista Podiums. We love the way a podium elevates a person. It’s our way of honouring our Miista crowd and their points of view. A physical representation of empowerment.

Making INNE takes many hands.
It’s a multi-step process from cutting and stitching to the final polish that creates its glossy finish.
Handmade in Portugal, through our Short Supply Chain .
LOVED TO LAST
What happens when shoes that are crafted with care, worn with intention become things we grow attached to? How long does it take to transition from an item we wear to something that signifies us?
We wanted to explore the unique attachment which forms when we find a pair of shoes that we love and how the thought of getting rid of them creates a void.
Over a few days, we criss-crossed London and Paris meeting eight women, including a graphic designer, a writer, an energy industry consultant, and a film director. We met them in a place that felt personal to them, from clubs to bookshops, parks to apartments, where we asked them to converse with their favourite footwear. To reveal what makes their relationship work so well, share some of the experiences they have had together, and to find out why they’re still in love with the same pair, after years of wear and repair.
Because if these shoes could talk….
Alongside these stories, the campaign foregrounds the craft behind every item. Designed and handmade in Europe, each piece is produced through a fully traceable, vertically integrated, short supply chain. This proximity – to people, process, and place – underpins everything Miista makes.

LOVED TO LAST ➡️
We wanted to explore the unique attachment which forms when we find a pair of shoes that we love and how the thought of getting rid of them creates a void.
In a culture driven by constant replacement, Loved to Last makes space for footwear that tells stories through living rather than unmarked perfection, memory over novelty, and how objects made with care – are kept, lived in, loved, and worn again and again.
So, we decided to seek out the Miista connoisseurs. Find a group of people who had a pair of Miista’s (or many) for a long time and adored them, who couldn’t bear to part with them. Women who felt their shoes had a story to tell about them.

Using a fabric developed by British Millerain, a company founded in 1880, we made a low-slung pocketed belt with a lingerie-inspired lace-up front and a robust back zipper – which is also water resistant.
It feels like we’ve put a little kink into country living. We think Lady Di would have approved.
Whilst some might see body hair as taboo, we’ve always been fans of some fuzz. That’s why we’ve been working on some new hairy additions for our latest collection which layer sensuality with softness.
Hair we go. Knitted with Organic Cotton yarn & 100% Natural Sheep Hair.
Meet Gauri our lastest version of a “witchy goth boot for weird art girls”
We are known as the people that make “ugly shoes for cool girls” and we love to work on designs that feature corsetry-inspired lattice of laces that runs all the way down the back of the boots to the base of the heel.
Putting a kink in country living.
The making of our Marla Multifunctional Jacket and how we style it.
Sometimes, the material informs the message. We’ve always loved a classic Millerain waxed cotton – it’s a textile that’s synonymous with the British countryside and an 80s Sloane Ranger style.
