Today is our third anniversary!
And so let me tell you a (not quite short) story..
Tatlong taon na ang nakalipas magmula noong nangyari ang isa sa mga pinakamaligayang araw sa buhay ko.
When we were preparing for the wedding, sa dami ng mga inasikaso, nakalimutan ko ang isa sa mga pinakamahalagang bahagi ng kasal ~ kailangan ko nga palang isulat yung vows ko!
January 30 noon, 12 days bago ang kasal. Pauwi na ako’t nag-aalala kasi wala talagang tamang mga salitang dumarating sa’kin.
Malapit na ako sa bahay ‘nun, tapos ‘nung papasok na ‘ko sa parking, may dumating na melodiya sa isip ko. Sinubukan ko siyang ituloy, tiningnan kung saan siya papunta. Sabay bukas ng voice memos!
Nagpark ako, at ayun na nga, nagtuloy-tuloy na.
Kasabay ng mga nota, dahan-dahang dumating ang mga salita na para bang may bumubulong sa’kin ng lahat ng gusto kong sabihin tungkol sa nakaraan, kasalukuyan, at kinabukasan namin.
At higit sa lahat, naramdaman ko sa pinakamalalim na bahagi ng aking puso ~ sasabihin ko ang lahat ng ‘to sa harap ng Diyos, kung saan wala kang maitatago, at ang buong katotohanan ay ilalahad.
Lumabas ang totoo:
Yayakapin ko ang iyong init,
at sasamahan kita hanggang sa Bulan
Sisikapin kong maging kanlungan mo
at sabay nating punuin ng alaala
ang ating duyan.
Bumuhos ang mga luha. Sa wakas, pagkatapos ng tatlong oras, nahanap ko rin ang mga salita. At alam kong hindi siya galing sa sarili kong galing, kundi hinubog ito ng pagmamahalan naming sinubok na ng panahon.

And now, three years later, we decided we were ready to share the song, because we felt that the song could serve as a mirror to someone out there who could connect to the words.
And so as we celebrate our third anniversary, please include us in your prayers as we continue building our future as a family 😊

In a few days, we fly back to Dubai & this was our send-off party. I’m still processing everything that happened last night… overwhelmed & extremely grateful for everything 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽💙

We asked @miguelbenjamin_ to play a song that captured his first overland camp. Nothing too intense, just a simple night outdoors that somehow felt like home.
They say it’s home where you park it, and this night proved it.
The song he chose hit something real. A quick escape from the noise, something to look forward to, something to come back to.
Strip away the rigs, strip away the gear, and maybe this is what overlanding really is. A group of people brought together by the same pull for adventure.
Somewhere along the way we start chasing bigger trips, bigger builds, bigger plans. But this reminded us what it’s supposed to feel like.
Just a campfire. Good people, great food and the outdoors. A place that always feels like home.
A quick escape from the busy schedule turned into one of those nights that would just stay with us. Unexpected people around the campfire, good food, easy conversations, and just slowing things down.
This is why we do it.
Glad we squeezed this in despite everyone’s packed schedules. @miguelbenjamin_ coming from back to back gigs and still sharing his music, @chefjayps bringing everyone together, and the team putting in the work behind the scenes. Cooking outdoors is never easy, so big thanks to Kim and the crew.
Plus @gretchenho dropping by as a surprise made it even better.
At the end of the day, rigs are just tools. It’s the moments and the people that make it.

As we open up more of our space here at OverlandKings together with @sarsa_fieldkitchen , we’re making room for the kind of moments that are easy to say yes to. Quick setups, good music, warm food, and conversations that linger around the rigs and the campfire.
Right here in the city, we set up camp almost every day. No long drives needed, just the mindset to pause and enjoy it.
Because sometimes the small, everyday setups become the starting point of something bigger.
We still can’t get over the menu of @chefjayps and @miguelbenjamin_ serenading us last night. It is this kind of random collaborations that we cherish the most forever. We love you guys.
