Sileni (US) is playing in Stockport! An artist whose music has been a key influence on the whole microfunk movement finally joins us for an exclusive dj set at BRUK on Sunday 10th May.
With releases on some of the most iconic leftfield dnb & electronica labels, including Planet Mu, Offshore and Subtle Audio, Chris Sileni has been known since the early 2000s for his skittering percussion, fractured breaks and experimental sound design, alongside a distinct minimalism that later evolved into his Xen Chron alias.
Joining him: Enuui, carrying the Exegene Records lineage, and Synkro & Bop with a special b2b set. Donāt miss this - itās a rare one!

Oak has been part of the Microfunk movement from the very beginning. His music always stood out to me - the level of production was unmatched and every tune had such unique ideas behind it, it always felt like he was ahead of his time. Even now, over a decade later, these tracks still sound futuristic as hell. A true master of his craft! For me, it felt really important to preserve and bring these pieces back into the world with this release.
Lots of people have been asking where heās gone - he hasnāt gone anywhere, just experimenting with different sounds and aliases, most recently as Bliss Inc. @blisssinc . A completely different realm, but the same care for detail and unique approach. Definitely worth diggingšŖ¬
New Bopās EP ā¢ā¢Blips 3000ā¢ā¢ is out now on Microfunk! Four 130ā140 bpm tunes drifting between UKG, dubstep, breakbeat and leftfield electronica, including collabs with Chime and y/siR.
At the core of this release is a question: can digital artifacts carry emotion like analogue ones do? From low-bitrate MP3 artefacts to spectral glitches & FFT-mangled breakbeats, this mini-album explores audio textures that might feel nostalgic tomorrow, or already do today.
