Hi all! Over the past year, I’ve had the joy of getting to know Myrna, who I know through her neighbor and our mutual friend @willjackthedj . She’s a queer elder and immigrant and is, for good reason, a cherished member of our Bushwick community, which has been her home for decades. In 2023, Myrna lost her beloved wife, Moses. In addition to her emotional loss, Myrna also lost access to the social services Moses once provided, and has struggled to cover rent and basic living expenses — some of you may remember when I have shared fundraisers for her in the past. With the help of this generous community, we were able to raise $6,000 earlier this year to stop an eviction and keep Myrna in her home. Those funds went directly toward rent, utilities, and other urgent needs. But the struggle is ongoing. This past June, Myrna suffered another devastating loss: her daughter, Annie, passed away in a tragic car accident. The emotional and financial toll of these back-to-back losses is more than any one person should have to bear alone. Now, as we approach the colder months, we’re asking for your help once again. Our goal is to raise enough to carry Myrna through the next few months-and hopefully through the winter-so she can remain in her home and focus on healing without the fear of losing everything. Myrna has no family able to provide the support she needs. She relies entirely on the love and care of her community-of us. Every donation, share, and kind word helps to ensure that Myrna can live out her senior years with dignity, stability, and the same warmth she has always shown to those around her. The Trans Revolutionary Action Network for New York (T.R.A.N. for NY) is an organization created by and for Trans+ identified individuals with a commitment to centering TMA (Trans misogyny affected) and BIPOC (Black, indigenous and people of color) voices which are too often marginalized. TRAN4NY believes in educating, equipping and accommodating Trans+ people to effectively navigate an often hostile and transphobic environment using a leftist and abolitionist framework. They seek the liberation of our Trans+ siblings both here in New York CIty and further afield. Angel Money (@angelmoneymafia ) is a multidisciplinary queenpin with an affinity for bad behavior and badder bitches. Her USB is classified as a WMD in eight countries, and her raucous, sexually charged, circuit-infused sets have landed her on many a most-wanted list—including your partner’s. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. AKIRA (@akira.operating.system ) is a video, still, and sonic artist from Pittsburgh with roots and inspirations in bridge raves and ballroom HA’s. Her passionate force of will penetrates though dance floors with flourishes of house, techno, baile, and club. Her music is for divas only. She found it on the internet and it’s sexy and wet like a Pittsburgh bridge and humpy like a Pittsburgh hill. Amen sister. Techno technician and Top Surgery co-host @elly.dj_ rounds out the lineup. @official.rebrand will be tabling in the back yard with anti-waste, gender-free wares.
