"The Feeling's Mutual" feat. @okay.kaya is out today along with the music video I directed. I'll write more about the song's origin story (and the b-side) next week but for now I'll talk about the video. Since Kaya lives in Norway and we had no way to make a music video together, I had the idea to make a video with fingers dancing to the song. I posted to ask if anybody I knew could finger dance and my friend @officialsolstreet who is just a genius at everything told me she could try it. So she came over and did a handful of takes and @pgdm helped me edit and it's my favorite music video I've ever made. I also want to thank everybody who worked on or played on this recording. @naomi.greene played harp (and bass on the low harp strings!) and @amandalomcgregor@mindyasher played the string arrangement I wrote that @caleymw_ orchestrated with me like 15 years ago. Kaya played synths and most of this was recorded at @kizmitmusic and mixed by my old friend Lewis Pesacov. Watch the full video at my website link in bio or at the link in my stories.
@carolineplz has a new single out so I thought I’d repost this photo which we shot in the middle of a stream, balancing against the current, my cameras sitting on rocks. This was with @lizzyweinberg and @stephanierulez standing on the shore. I think everyone was sure I’d fall in the water or drop a camera but I somehow didn’t. Our debut single “Solitaire” is out now along with a music video about an innocent girl corrupted by jazz! The video was directed and shot by @michaelleviton starring @kittyverte . In this outtake, @sk.out plays another casualty of showbiz...
I directed a video for @fyoutammy who performs music from David Lynch movies so, naturally, we made a short silent movie about a therapy cult that puts you in a cage and forces you to voyeuristically watch the guy you're dating with his secret other girlfriend and then cures your erotic fixation by making you dance blindfolded with her.
This was especially fun to make because the band was founded by my old friend @deveryminou who I had a band with in my early twenties called La Laque and it had been almost twenty years since we'd collaborated. We shot this at @thehancockfoundation with hair/makeup by the great @pott28 and @thumprecording loaned us the perfect tape machine for an insane therapist and @pgdm edited it and it was amazing to let myself be this non-linear in my thinking for once.
