Sometimes the song demands you get up and write it, and now I’m dragging all of you into this mornings 4:30 porch session. Most of us have made the act of prayer way too complicated. I’d argue that the majority of people feel inadequate and ill equipped. They think they don’t have the right words, much less feel worthy enough to even be talking to Jesus. But the truth of the matter is, prayer at its purist is simply a conversation. Saints, sinners, and everyone in between has the Divine invitation to simply talk with the Creator. From the Garden of Eden to now, I believe God still waits in the cool of the day for someone to talk to Him. He doesn’t judge form, vocabulary, or even posture for that matter. He just loves to sit with us. So, maybe today the challenge is this. Lose a bit of religious rhetoric, and just talk. And then just listen. We might just be wildly surprised.
