My good friend Joe Lally passed away today. Joe and I spent 10 years collaborating ideas and passions and creating art together. Joe and my friendship was super unconventional. A friend introduced me to Joe and told me how amazing of a photographer he was. Joe and I decided to shoot together and when I showed up he was shooting using a disposable camera. This was Joes way of shooting. It was more about the moment than the camera or the light or anything else. And when we finished shooting we would grab lunch and talk about old films, conspiracies, good food and god. He had a way of making people feel important. I’m going to miss you Joe.
Today I am so grateful to be a father. It is much more than all the beautiful moments. The hugs, the heart to hearts, the proud moments, the growth moments, the stop growing moments, the missing you kid, the proud of you kid, and everything in between. I am just as grateful for what being a dad has taught me as a man. There is so much growth in mind body and spirit that I could not have done alone. I am not the same man that I was the 9 years ago when Grey was born. I am not the same man that I was 17 years ago when I met and married the love of my life. I love you two. You make it all so easy.

My buddy just sent these to me. Talk about blast from the past. I’ll never forget this shoot. I was asked to introduce myself to this chimpanzee. I was nervous. We ended up being buddies and this shoot propelled my career. Looking back I realize how lucky I was and still continue to be.
