Now open: Uncensored. A Retrospective by @annegretsoltauofficial
Last night, we celebrated the opening of the first comprehensive retrospective in Austria dedicated to Annegret Soltau. Since the 1970s, Soltau has developed a distinctive feminist practice, using her own body as material and challenging established representations of female identity, motherhood and aging.
Through her characteristic techniques of photo sewing and photo-etching, she physically intervenes in the photographic surface - fragmenting and reconnecting the body as a way of questioning social norms and visual conventions.
