I tried to recapture the energy of the life drawing in this hard ground beginning of an etching. I stood up the whole time while drawing and used unconventional means of making marks that were less predictable in the first instance before I picked up the etching tool. I was concerned about open bite and wanted to put a spray aquatint on half way through the etch but the aerosol wouldn’t work! The Saline Sulphate was freshly mixed and lively. I went ahead anyway and have some open bite and foul etching. In retrospect I see that I also didn’t draw a thread all the way to the left hand!
I’m hoping I can address these issues and some in the drawing too. This drawing has much more energy however and that is a plus.

Ghostly life drawings made with @annagmilgrom yesterday. It was a joy!
Here they are warts and all for the record, impossible to see and often with one drawing over the top of another. Drawn with a HB pencil on the end of a stick and tracing the eye sockets. They are NOT sunglasses, honest.
Each drawing A1 and 20 mins or less. Trying to prevent them becoming too much too soon.

I’ve been working on this print along with a few others since Christmas. I made a second collagraph plate in order to get darker tones in the background of this one which I think works better.
I consider it as one half of a pair and will post them both together sometime.

I have been so reluctant to start a new plate, even though it’s something I wanted to do, I’ve kept putting it off. I’ve been meaning to do this since Easter…..anyway here it is after 3 or 4 short stints. Most of the drawing was done across the last two sessions while listening to the Jam, something I haven’t done for a long while.
I usually prefer to complete a small drawing in one go as every day feels different so we’ll see how this one goes. It currently feels like a hesitant warm up.

I’ve been working on this print along with a few others since Christmas and things are finally coming together. I made a second collagraph plate for this one to get darker tones in the background (not as evident in close ups with the phone’s automatic adjustments). I think the balance is better and it was worth the trouble.
