Been enjoying the first true snowfall of the season and the beginnings of Christmas festivities and traditions. ❄️
One of my favorite Christmas songs is Winter Wonderland. It includes a line that says “Gone away is the bluebird, here to stay is the new bird.” This refers to migration during the winter when bluebirds flee to warmer climates, symbolizing fleeting blues and sadness, and are replaced by a new friendly face—the cardinal, a vibrant beacon of hope and joy in the cold winter scenery.
To anyone reading this, whether or not you celebrate winter holidays, whether you’re with friends or family or spending it in solitude, whether it’s blizzarding or sweltering outside your home, hoping you find a bit of joy this season as 2025 draws to a close!🫶⛄️
It’s easy to focus on our shortcomings—missed deadlines, failed goals, and abandoned resolutions. Whenever we don’t hit the marks we set for ourselves, we feel like failures. And yet, even when we fall short of the flimsy little plans we construct for ourselves, we’re growing. Even when we can’t see it, we’re growing. So instead of comparing yourself to where you should be by now or where those around you are, look back at yourself a year or five or ten ago and appreciate how far you’ve come.

I rarely listen to music. Sure, I turn on music all the time, but it’s almost always while I’m multitasking and it usually ends up as background noise. Every so often though, I have the time to lay down, put some headphones in, close my eyes, and just let the music wash over me without any distractions. And it is so refreshing.
Music is powerful—it’s just a bunch of sounds, but it has the power to uplift and empower and energize and break down walls and communicate across borders and convey meaning and emotions beyond words. It’s pretty darn cool if you ask me 🎶

Stop overthinking it. Don’t stress the little things. Sometimes we get so caught up in trying to figure out the nuance or hidden meaning in a situation that we miss the obvious. Trying to figure out “what they really meant” or digging to find someone’s true devious intentions when in reality they were really just saying hi. If you find yourself obsessing over a situation, take a step back and consider just taking it for face value. Sometimes it really ain’t that deep bro. 🌊
