“Les Filles du Roi” By far the most fun I had all pandemic was shooting this series-of-shorts-turned-feature in the rain for a week. Inclement weather, novel viruses, and feral coyotes are not enough to dampen the spirit when getting to work closely with some of your best pals and fellow creatives on a common goal. “Keep your head up, and your flag held high…” Ukraine has now been under assault for over a full two weeks and over 2.4 Million people have been displaced by the war, and that is to say nothing of the many lives lost on both sides of this senseless war. The news can feel overwhelming these days, climate change, pandemics, war… but I am hopeful that these are the growing pains of a better world. The last dying gasps of billionaires, oligarchs, and greed. Perhaps from the ashes of this we can actually build a world free of fear. We must hope for it, we must strive for it: even if we never get there. I encourage anyone and everyone to use what skills they have to not only denounce and decry war, but to speak up about any and all injustices and acts of oppression they are passionate about righting, or use your energy to amplify the voices you feel are important and must be heard. We do not need to distract from one issue with another, there is time to address them all, and we must. It will take all of us to fix the world, so pick up a flag and start waving it. In the last few days, the amount of Ukrainian people displaced by the war has doubled from 1.2 Million, to over 2.4… I encourage anyone and everyone to use what skills they have to not only denounce and decry war, but to speak up about any and all injustices and acts of oppression they are passionate about righting, or use your energy to amplify the voices you feel are important and must be heard. We do not need to distract from one issue with another, there is time to address them all, and we must. It will take all of us to fix the world. Thank you to the protest organizers and speakers who have, and continue to do, so much. “Speak Up!” Ukraine has been under assault for over a full two weeks now, and since I was last able to post a few days ago, Ukrainian people displaced by the war has doubled from 1.2 Million, to over 2.4… Now is not the time to be silent, or give into fatigue: there is no respite for those whose homes, or loved ones have been lost, or those who may soon lose theirs. The Russian Army bombards cities, including residential districts, and hospitals. They have also refused to make several evacuation corridors. We can all do more. We cannot tolerate Leaders that promise violence to other people, countries, nations; or who threaten anyone or any place with the irreparable environmental damage of Nuclear War. #standwithukraine It’s been over a week since Putin started his invasion of Ukraine. There are now over 1.2 Million Ukranian people displaced by the war. The Russian Army continues to advance on Kyiv, and Vladimir Putin promises “the worst is yet to come.” Why do we tolerate this kind of bestial behaviour? Leaders that promise violence to other people, countries, nations; who threaten anyone or any place with the irreparable environmental damage of Nuclear War, are not leaders: they are cowards. Hiding behind the power provided by those who fear you, makes you a Tyrant, not a leader. A true leader must have a strong moral compass, and inspire those they serve to better themselves. A person unwilling to communicate, unable to negotiate, to have empathy for, and consider the perspectives of others, and who instead threaten dissent, and even commit violence against their own people; is of such weak character that they cannot even defend or persuade their bitter and feeble position by any other means. Such a person is not fit to lead. The people of Russia are starting to realize this, and rising up in protest, despite the threats of violent reprisal from their own government. We must all stand up to violent oppression. It has no place in the modern world. We must use thought; practice empathy, patience, and decide what kind of person you want to be. The sanctions help, but are not enough. If Putin manages to take Ukraine, how long before these sanctions slowly start to lift and we accept this is normal? How long before it happens again? @nato must move to close the skies over Ukraine, or this will not be the last country a dictator tries to obtain. “Russian Warship: Go Fuck Yourself” One of the most repeated phrases since Russia’s invasion Ukraine began over a week ago. It has been reported and confirmed that the Ukrainian Border guards who spoke these words, once thought to be dead, are in fact now Russian prisoners. Though some seem to think this makes these soldier somehow “less heroic” this brazen act of defiance against overwhelming odds reminds us that “one can only be brave in the face of fear,” and let that be a reminder to not only @nato @joebiden @justinpjtrudeau @borisjohnsonuk @bundespraesident.steinmeier @emmanuelmacron @quirinale and @sanchezcastejon but also to the people of Russia; to influencers like @khabib_nurmagomedov @islam_makhachev @mikhail_litvin @karinakross @buzova_86 @gagara1987 @tnt_online @m_galustyan @helen_y now is no longer the time to remains silent. You must stand up to, and speak against Tyranny. Putin has threatened Nuclear retaliation against countries that intervene, but we cannot let that fear stop us.
