L4 | FINAL JURY : Studio - Massing the houses for housing the Masses
This studio reimagines high-density housing beyond numbers—towards humane, interactive, and sustainable urban living. Through rigorous research, explorations, and iterative design processes, the pursuit engaged nature integration, community bonds, flexibility, and vernacular reinterpretation. From site to detail, it negotiates density with dignity, fostering identity and belonging. A culmination of critical inquiry, experimentation, and representation—presenting resilient, liveable, and timeless neighbourhood visions.

PRE FINAL JURY | Studio : The Practice
In the pre-final jury stage ,the focus lies on reviewing the translation of each student’s practice ideology into operational systems and architectural outcomes. The jury examines how questions of governance, collaboration, authorship, labor, and process shape design decisions across multiple simultaneous projects, testing whether the proposed practice model can sustain its values under conditions similar to real architectural practice.

PRE FINAL JURY | Studio : Massing the houses for housing the masses
With housing shaping nearly two-thirds of the urban fabric, the studio engages with the challenge of balancing quantity with quality in high-density environments. The pre-final jury marks a stage of refining proposals that aim to create socioculturally responsive, environmentally sustainable, and humane neighbourhoods—integrating community, flexibility, and identity within the urban context.

PRE FINAL JURY | Studio: Reading the City ,Writing the Site
The housing studio has now entered the pre-final jury stage, where design proposals are being critically reviewed and refined before final submission. After months of studying Ahmedabad’s diverse housing morphologies—from historic pols and chawls to cooperative and peripheral developments—the focus is now on strengthening concepts, resolving details, and improving overall clarity. As part of this process, students from other studios were invited as co-jurors, bringing fresh perspectives and a new lens to the discussions. Their observations and critiques helped challenge assumptions and strengthen the proposals further, making the review process more insightful and constructive.

MHD STUDIOS | Mid-Sem Jury Reflections
Mid-semester jury reflections act as critical checkpoints to evaluate and refine one’s design approach. It encourages students to reassess assumptions, question spatial decisions, and respond to feedback from diverse perspectives. It helps identify gaps in concept, program, and execution, pushing the project toward greater clarity and depth. More than evaluation, it becomes a learning tool—guiding students to improve design thinking, strengthen narratives, and make informed iterations. Ultimately, it transforms criticism into direction, enabling a more resolved and thoughtful architectural outcome aligned with both intent and context.

STUDENT LED DISCUSSIONS
Spring Semester was undertaken with a collaboration between MHD and MCR program where a student-led discussion was organised with Ar. Raj Rewal @raj_rewal_ to understand CIDCO Housing Mumbai in a better way.
Apart from that, throughout the middle of the studio students also led a conversation with DGM Heritage Department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Piyush Pandya, discussing housing issues and need of retrofitting and maintenance.
