Introducing Her Voice The MH Boxes Youth Board Her Voice was created to ensure Black girls are not just included in conversations about mental health, leadership, and community change — they are leading them. This youth-led initiative brings together young leaders to help shape MH Boxes’ programs, advocacy efforts, and vision for the future. Through leadership development, mentorship, advocacy training, storytelling, and community engagement, Her Voice creates space for Black girls to use their voices, share their experiences, and drive meaningful change in their communities. These young leaders will help guide organizational decisions, lead projects, raise awareness around mental health, and build a future where Black girls are empowered, supported, and heard. Because representation matters. Because youth voice matters. Because Black girls deserve a seat at the table. 💖 #EmpoweringGirls #TransformingSystems #HerVoice #MHBoxes #BlackGirlsMatter #YouthLeadership #MentalHealthAwareness #HealingCentered #BlackGirlJoy #YouthVoice #GirlsLead #MentalHealthEquity

We’re feeling extra grateful this month ❤️ A huge thank you to our incredible partners at @projectglimmer for another beautiful donation to MH Boxes. They always go above and beyond to make sure girls feel confident, seen, and supported—but this time was something truly special. Each bag didn’t just include their signature “We Believe in You” sticker (which we love 💫)… they also included handwritten affirmation cards inside every single bag. For Mental Health Awareness Month, this couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. These affirmations are more than words—they’re reminders that our girls are worthy, powerful, and never alone. It’s partnerships like this that turn a box into a moment of healing 💕 Thank you, Project Glimmer, for continuing to pour love, intention, and encouragement into every detail. We see you—and so do the girls we serve 💖 #MHBoxes #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #BlackGirlsMatter #HealingInABox #YouthMentalHealth #CommunityCare

Today we celebrate Mila 🎉 Happy 15th Birthday, Mila! Your heart, leadership, and kindness continue to change lives every single day. We are so proud of you. 🦋 For her 15th birthday, Mila has one special wish: To raise $1,500 to support more MH Boxes for girls facing mental health challenges. 🎁 Instead of gifts, she’s asking her community to help us continue this mission of healing, hope, and support for Black girls and youth in need. Every donation helps provide care packages filled with mental health resources, comfort items, affirmations, journals, sensory tools, and reminders that their lives matter. 💐 If Mila’s story or MH Boxes has ever inspired you, we would love for you to celebrate with us by giving, sharing, and helping us reach this goal. 💝 Donation link in my linktree 🌴 #MHBoxes #HappyBirthdayMila #MentalHealthMatters #BlackGirlsMatter #SupportYouthMentalHealth

We’re so proud to share that MH Boxes is part of the You Glow Girl Network (YGGN)! ✨💖 YGGN is a powerful collective of girl-serving organizations across Central Virginia, all coming together to uplift, empower, and pour into the next generation of girls. Being in community with organizations who share our passion for girls, confidence-building, and leadership means everything to us. This weekend, we’re especially excited to be out at YGGN events connecting, collaborating, and celebrating alongside so many of our friends and partners who are doing incredible work in this space. There’s nothing like being in places full of people who are all committed to helping girls glow in their own way. Shoutout to the amazing network partners we saw this weekend: 💗 R.E.A.L. 💸✨ CHECK YOUR ENERGY ✨💸 Today, Mila, Cali, and Jocelyn had the opportunity to lead a powerful workshop at the Pretty Purposed Mental Health Summit—creating space to reflect, connect, and check how we’re spending our energy. 💖 From building their own “energy receipts” to having real conversations about what drains them and what fills them up, these girls showed up with honesty, courage, and so much strength. 👏🏽 As we step into Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re proud to rep our message loud and clear: 👉🏽 Your energy matters. 👉🏽 Your peace matters. 👉🏽 You don’t have to give your energy to everything or everyone. This month, we’re challenging everyone to CHECK YOUR ENERGY—protect it, honor it, and invest it into what truly pours back into you. 💫 Thank you to every girl who showed up and reminded us why this work matters. 💕 #CheckYourEnergy #MHBoxes #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth

Scrolling, sharing, and going viral is everyday life for teens on apps like TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram. R.E.A.L. Girlz — an empowerment organization that provides a safe space for young women — talked about what they’re seeing online and how it’s shaping their generation. Last month a few of our girlz sat down with Destini Harris (@itsdestinilharris ) of @12onyourside to discuss the growing trend of “teen takeovers “ Teen takeovers are organized online — teens plan to meet up at a specific location and “take over.” Here’s what our Girlz had to say…. “It’s a lot about teen takeovers in the mall, outside,” said 16-year-old Jocelyn Sanderson “I think social media can have good things and bad things,” 14-year-old Cali Rivers said. “But if it’s a negative trend going around and people feel like they have to be like everybody else and do it, it can lead them down the wrong path or into the wrong crowd.” You have to take precautions,” Mila Marrero said. “Know where you’re going, the details of it — who you’re with — and trust your gut if something feels off… if it’s somewhere where a gun might get pulled out — or fights might break out — don’t go.” Cali, Mila & Jocelyn are high school participants in our Mentor & Leadership Academy. An eight month program where students develop leadership, public speaking skills, mentor elementary school students, receive CPR certification and engage in outreach events in the community. We are so proud of them for using their voices to talk about this important topic. #realgirlz #12onyourside #richmondnonprofit #rvayouthprogram #news12
