Goodbye Show was a final gathering of m*therf**ckers to explode in memories and celebration of our time in MF studio. But also to express and expose the every day participation of our bodies, both consciously and unconsciously, participation in the brutal realities of modern consumerism and capitalist exploitation, that we have been dancing amidst during our time in the Shopping Mall “Quartier 205”. We are out of the mall but refuse to stop resisting and criticizing these systems. With our bodies we stand together in solidarity and communal resistance against profit, imagining future non-capitalist possibilities. This workshop is inspired by the spirit of Whacking – a dance style that was brought to life by queer BIPoCs communities in L.A. creating a space for expressing and playing with emotions, for showing and empowering yourself. Attention MOTHERFUCKERS, We Will be showing a Work in progress this saturday, in MF. For the past month, Sindre Rydhard a.k.a SugarandSyn has been in residency at MF Studio, developing his piece “One of the Boys” in collaboration with studio owner and performer Matilde Flor Usinger. Sindre is a transmasculine individual in search of being one with their body and of finding true desire. They ask: What does it mean for one’s sexual self and physical body to exist in relation with heteronormativity? How does a journey of claiming your true body expression and sexuality look, sound, and feel? “So what does it feel like, to be one of the boys? OPEN CALL (Barcelona) As part of my residency ‘Normal’ at @observatoriodelplacer I am looking for participants for a study group. I am pleased to invite local artists to contribute to this research process. Since my aim with this residency is to explore questions about intimacy, to which I do not have the answers myself, I believe the best way to answer (or at least try to answer) these is through collective learning and sharing. Therefore I will be opening the space for anyone who is interested in discovering the many facets of intimacy. How can intimacy be normalized and explored through boundaries and collective care? We will try to implement practices of intimacy collected throughout the residency at Observatorio del Placer with a selected group of people. The further purpose is to build up a performative body installation that will be shown to an audience on Saturday, April 13th. Danilo Andrés is particularly interested in the aesthetic and vocal textures from punk and metal music, and on guttural singing with its origins in ancient magical-ritualistic contexts as well; including fry scream, false chord scream, Tibetan guttural chant and mantras. What is essential for them is the aspect of repetition - in the sense of the mantra - and its energetic power to make the body dance and sound at the same time. In Danilo’s country of origin, Latin America, working with voice in the context of the indigenous people and their traditions is an important tool for rituals and ceremonies of healing. The shamans as mediums develop the ability to speak and sing in different voices. They will evoque these origins as inspiration to use the voice as an instrument that animates mind and body in the sense of energy and movement. As part of their previous research, Danilo Andrés has already dealt extensively with a professional level of singing and voice work and deepened his knowledge with Sainkho Namtchylak (Overtone, Undertone and Throat Singing Techniques), Stina Fors (fry scream and false chord scream), among others. **The workshop is particularly suitable for dancers, musicians and performers, as well as for all artists who are interested in creative work with voice** ARTIST In their work as an artist, performer and choreographer, Danilo Andrés examines the development of the body in a queer context. They aim to create new contexts for the interference between the: “SOMATIC-PUNK & HORROR”. It’s a fusion of dance techniques aimed at recognising and creating our own expression language through the body. Using various styles of Latin American music, she invites you to connect with your roots, your centre, and to use dance as a method of expressing your own story. Beautiful MotherFuckers, Eduard Adam Orszulik presents “Rave Practice” The liminal space of the rave practice provides a place for participants to play with their personal identity. A liberated and safe space for play that we cannot afford in the everyday cycle, as social constructs still implicitly dictate what role we are expected to take in particular places. In the temporary and experimental space of the rave practice, participants can experience altered trance-like states of consciousness through structural improvisation focused on repetitive movement synchronized with the rhythm of techno music. This form of movement meditation allows to explore the healing potential of these states in a safe and supportive environment. Rave practice as a movement-music happening can be seen as a liminal utopian environment in which respectful people of different ethnic backgrounds, genders and social classes meet each other.
