New single is out today! I wrote this song for everyone’s favorite mustache man, @the_rusty_piton . He’s coming up on a proud 14 years of sobriety, but that sobriety has also arrived with a lifetime of grief and loss. I wrote this after a particularly challenging Facebook post-fueled day, but it’s grown and evolved for me personally as I’ve navigated a world where it feels like the internet is always ready with bad news, grief, horror…anything to bring me down. It serves as a reminder that despite that cloud of ghosts, we stand strong and press on, grief and joy in hand together.
I got to fly out to Portland to record this with one of my favorite producers, @shaneleonardstuff (real talk: the night I got the email from him I literally did not sleep I was so stoked 😂) at @floramartine ‘s magical studio. I wouldn’t have been able to do this in quite the same way without the power squad Shane brought in: @jennycd (piano), @thesoundisround (bass/bowed vibraphone), and @clarabakery (engineer) for their amazing contributions.

Hello! This song comes out tomorrow! I’ve been feelin it extra hard lately, where every opening of a browser tab has the opportunity to slide me into a pit of some angry sad depression combo? But also, trying to find the strength in spite of that. I dunno, it’s all a lot, but music is nice :)

Surprise! I’m playing at @mecocoffeecollective this evening from 8:15-9:15 as part of Winter Walkabout. There won’t be dogs, but there will be some sweet violin from Anneke Dean, which is basically just as good 😍
I tried to take some photos to use for the cover of the new Casper recording so I didn’t have to spend a ton of money on art (surpriseeee making and releasing music is damn expensive), but oops they all mostly look the same 🤦♀️ Help me decide which one to use though! 1, 2, 3, or “no dude these are all terrible” ❤️
Got some film back from New Orleans and am still soaking in the bright colors and ringing jazz of such a beautiful place. Thanks for giving us an excuse to explore @folk_alliance 😍
