POV: your merch guy literally grew up in a clothing factory. While most merch companies are picking blanks off a Printful dropdown, I grew up in one of the largest textile manufacturing cities in the world. The same city that produces clothing for brands you wear every day without knowing where they came from. 40 years of family textile knowledge. Factory floors before business plans. I knew what heavyweight cotton felt like before I knew what a mood board was. This is why we don’t guess on quality. We know which country, which factory, which mill makes each product best… and we go there. Every single time. Every drop at Merchnain starts with one question: What does this creator or brand’s community actually believe in? Merch that doesn’t answer that question correctly will definitely end up in a drawer. Doesn’t matter how good the graphic is. Doesn’t matter how premium the blank is. If it doesn’t reflect something real back at the people wearing it, it just becomes another piece of clothing. HOW WE PLAN A DROP: Before we touch a single sample, we get into the brief. Who is this community. What do they care about. What do they wear outside already. What would make them stop a stranger on the street and explain what they’re repping. What would make them post the unboxing without being asked. HOW WE SELECT THE PRDUCT We figure out the product category and how it fits the community’s lifestyle. Trends come second. We figure out what makes sense for these specific people. Then we source accordingly. The hoodie conversation and the cap conversation happen in different countries for a reason. HOW WE EXECUTE Then comes design. Authenticity first, aesthetic second. The best drops we’ve done weren’t the most visually complex. They were the most honest about what the community stood for. Then sampling. Then revision. Then approval. Then production. Then packaging (because the box is part of the drop, not an afterthought) THREE TESTS OF GOOD MERCH Every step is a question: would the community wear this outside. Would they post this. Would they talk about this. If the answer is yes across the board … we ship it. If it’s not, we flag it early and re-assess. That’s the process. Every time.
