Hey tea lovers! If you have time to spare between meetings around the City Hall area, do pop by @acm_sg for their "Garden of Senses: A Tea Reverie" that is on till 7 June! It is a cosy multi-sensory exhibition on the 2nd floor that explores tea's significance across Asia by engaging the senses. (My favourite was @alecianeo 's ASMR "Symphony of Tea" installation.) @clarissagoenawan and I made a whole tea outing out of it last Saturday, including taking part in their trivia trail of sorts and if you complete that, you'll get a complimentary large Jasmine green milk tea at the new gorgeous Chagee at Asian Civilisations Museum yay! While in that area, we also had lunch at @bricolage.sg and I really enjoyed their upcycled kombucha using spent basil leaves and it had such interesting banana notes to it! #sgtea #teastagram #sgmuseum

There’s a secret you might’ve known, but you probably forgot… MAGIC IS REAL. ✨🐉 In @lowyingping ’s latest story, every child knows that, but they forget all about it by the time they turn thirteen. Mengyao wants to remember. But with her thirteenth birthday fast approaching, she’s losing hope. Meanwhile, young emperor Kai is on the run from traitorous advisors, searching for the fabled Dragon’s Pulse, a magic capable of defeating his enemies. Embark on their journey; shaped by danger, secrecy, and the possibility of magic and unexpected alliances! 🐇 Join us for the book launch happening on the 30th of May 2026, from 2-4pm at @bookbarsg . Moderated by @melanderings , the authors will be chatting about Ying Ping’s international debut (!), magic, mayhem and mythical creatures, as well as get down to some arts & crafts to find your inner dragon. 🔥 Suitable for ages 8 and up: adults and kids welcome! See you there! 👋

It's always lovely to visit a supportive school 🤗. Many thanks to Chua Chu Kang Primary School for inviting me to your Book Character Day celebrations. A special shoutout to English teacher Mdm Sarina and librarian Mdm Aida for creating such a cute author's corner in the school library. Thanks also to Eduworks for making the arrangements! #authortalk #amazingashandsuperheroahma

Happy to have attended this year's Singapore Book Awards as @nanimonda and I were finalists in the Best Young Person's Non-Fiction category for "Endangered Animals of Southeast Asia"! We didn't win, but we are grateful for the nomination and the committed work of @armourpublishing in getting this book published! It felt like a night of bookmarks as I bumped into people who have been there at different points of my book journey. From ghostwriting a business book for Winston from Armour years ago, to working on the Amazing Ash and Superhero Ah Ma graphic novel trilogy with the prolific @differenceenginesg team (congratulations on the multiple well-deserved awards this year!), to teaching children's book writing with @joyseetully (who also picked up an award for the Chinese edition of the iconic The Little Singapore Book), and having @darrensohphoto get to see what my little book world is sometimes like as he was nominated for best book cover for "Everyday Modernism". It's been a ride, but I wouldn't have it any other way! #authorlife #authorcommunity

Kicking off the week with an inspiring Earth Week celebration at Gongshang Primary School🌍! Ms Melanie and Ms Nani made their debut with a dynamic Science assembly programme, engaging students through their newly launched book, “Endangered Animals of Southeast Asia.” Drawing from her experience with Mandai Wildlife Group, Ms Melani shared valuable insights into conservation efforts and how we can all play a part in this year’s Earth Week theme, “Our Power 💪 , Our Planet.”🌍 Ms Nani complemented the session by walking students through the process of creating scientifically accurate animal illustrations, highlighting the vital role art plays in strengthening conservation messages. An enriching and meaningful session that truly brought science, art, and environmental awareness together! Drop us a DM if you’d like your students to join them on this learning journey and discover the importance of protecting our wildlife 🌿🐾

Congratulations to the shortlisted creators of the 2026 Hedwig Anuar Children's Book Award! I was privileged to be one of the judges for this year's entries, and I enjoyed getting to pore over such a rich collection of local children's books! It was such a joy to see these authors and illustrators basking in the well-deserved recognition at the "Meet the HABA Shortlist" spotlight held earlier this week. P/s: The winners will be announced next month at @afccsg stay tuned! Photos and video courtesy of @singaporebookcouncil @vivianteowriter & @filbertandfluff 🙏

Pleasantly surprised to learn that the "Endangered Animals of Southeast Asia" book I worked on with @nanimonda is a Singapore Book Awards 2026 finalist in the Best Young Person's Non-fiction Category! And (swipe to next slide) it just so happens that the "Everyday Modernism" book that @darrensohphoto worked on with @justinzhuang and @jiathwee is nominated for Best Cover Design. Yay! Thanks for the nominations @sbpa.sg

Finally able to catch a breather in the middle of marking marathoning to document our fancy bday + anni lunch at @shinji_bykanesaka last week! I get a little melancholic every March because it is hard to celebrate during peak work season, but this year, I was especially cognisant of how I should not take any of this for granted.

Over the years, I have received several photos of this burr oak tree from Dr Oliver because he remembers how much @vangur1 and I took a liking to it after introducing it to us 25 years ago. This year, I get a fridge magnet ☺️ I call it The Oliver Tree and it is my favourite tree in the whole world. It is over 400 years old and has survived droughts, floods and being struck by lightning #bigtree #missouri #katytrail

Buddy is 14 and a mysterious blend of chill, angst, quirkiness, maturity, and oblivion. He is also quite good in the kitchen and bought a kawaii Japanese cookbook from Book Bar today as his birthday pressie. Please send him happy and not-bored vibes his way as he discovers what gives him motivation and meaning in life 🙏
