The pre-sale for my book WET has launched - L͢i͢n͢k͢ i͢n͢ b͢i͢o͢. !! 8 years of tintypes made with the most incredible people turned into a gorgeous book by @burnbarrelpress 🔥🍑🔥thank you everyone!
.
WET by Meg Turner. This much-anticipated photo book contains a series of 45 tintype portraits created between New Orleans and New York City from 2014-2022. The images convey joy, fierceness, vulnerability, and an uncompromising gaze while exploding the notion that rest and security are deserved only after a lifetime of labor. Drawing deeply from traditions of fashion and advertising, Meg Turner invites her colleagues to re-stage symbols of power, sex and wealth that are used to seduce us into cycles of consumption and labor. The book is 12x9, softcover, perfect bound, with a hot-pink foil-stamped cover, and includes a selection of digitally colorized images created from original analog tintypes, and a foreword essay by curator and art critic Dr. Jordan Amirkhani, @jiamirkh ❤️❤️

This is how I print by hand! Im handprinting each page of WET volume 2 using a giant press and an etching process called photogravure. I’ll repeat this process fifty times and then flip the paper over and print the back - and that’s just one page spread! Fifty books total, published by @wsworkshop (presale available now). I love printmaking , it is slow and laborious and beautiful.
These pages featuring Max, Drea and Kat 💋💋💋

#mood when you live in a country that uses hunger as a bargaining tool to take away healthcare 🙅🏼. Come see this, my newest photogravure print featuring dom at the captains house - in an incredible group show at antenna 6330 ( in arabi next to paper machine!) tonight. Curated by Brian barbieri, featuring some of his beautiful new platinum palladium prints AND Polaroids by my multi- talented spouse griffin and many more artists! .
I’m always excited to be part of the community printshop shows (as a founder - emeritus?) because I’m so glad that this scrappy print shop is still going strong and making beautiful work and teaching people. Check them out if you are looking for print community or access to screenprinting or darkroom equipment!

@sabine.annamaryse ‘s record is out!! I love working with musicians and making this tintype was like entering a wild and powerful portal. (Would you ever know it was a 2pm sunny shoot outside in the sweltering summer) Sabine exquisitely styled and hair and makeup by the incredible Koko @roseonheart .
.
And i love love love that Sabine wanted to use a plate for the back of the record from one of my weirdest and most fun shoots . It always made me sad that animals get taxidermied into such violent demeanors when most animals just want to roll around in the sun and eat, so I made them some party hats.
It is truly a new dawn in America 🩷❤️🩷 Where someone can campaign and win on affordability without scapegoating workers, where someone can promote human rights that include Palestine and win, where someone can proudly represent trans people and taxi drivers and teachers with fierce optimism and a laser focus on the cost of living, and win. The Democratic Party can now take note or it can watch a new party form in its limp neo-liberal ashes. I didn’t realize how much I was holding my breath watching this race and preparing to punch down my optimism back into the well of gutted disappointment- and the glee and relief in New York is palpable. Thank you New York City and @zohrankmamdani and your whole team for showing this country what a new kind of leader can be. I don’t care if he achieves all of his agenda, the fact that he believes and fights that we deserve a country where one can work and live and love in dignity is half the damn point.
One year ago today , griffin and i had the best wedding ever, surrounded by so so many people we love. Thank you everyone who dressed up, played music, made flowers, and danced all night! And everyone who builds community and love with us in this insane world. I love you griffin and I love you all. Damn we look good!!
Could you be love? Does love come rushing to you like a flood of sound and emotion? Could it give you peace of mind? Trust and understanding? How do you know that it’s love? How does it compare to lust?
While writing this song I was grappling with these questions. I wrote this song about 10 years ago as the grief of an imperfect love overcame me. I was yearning for a partnership that seemed impossible.
I recorded the song with Eli “Paperboy” Reed in New York. He wanted the song to start like an outpouring of dramatic sound and end with a timeless impression. We recorded in Bushwick on tape, live, with sound boards between us. In that room the full band sound came to fruition.
Shot during the early pandemic, “my pod,” took over the beloved St. Roch Tavern and shot the video for my song, “Could You Be Love?”
Many thanks to all that were there. Check out the song on where ever you can stream or youtube the video ♥️

Thank you so much Max for your patience, vulnerability and fierce hotness in front of my camera! These tintypes were so fun to make. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
It has been a wild two years in the studio revamping all of my chemicals (see the chemical outtakes from this shoot in my stories), and I am delighted to be back in action. 🖤🤍🩶
. I’ll be in the studio every night next week 7pm - midnight, if anyone wants a queer headshot to feel fabulous in these terrifying political times and you don’t mind some chemical swirls and crackles while I continue testing collodion/silver/lights - dm me!
