ᗷᑌᖴᖴ TIᑎG ᖇᗩᗪIO ~ ᔕOᑭᕼTI
As a young doe growing up in the dirty south of Germany, Sophti spent her formative years alongside a clumsy, mostly hairless mole rat called Rufus—running loops of Missy Elliott and Ciara, and breaking out supa dupa fly dance moves inspired by Step Up, all while coping with everyday issues commonly associated with adolescence. As dance studios gave way to dancefloors, @ssssophti and Rufus began to detect an unfortunate club pattern: DJ selectors deploying safe 4x4 sequences, crowd control via predictable rhythms chosen by dull computer algorithms, krzz–tchk, system failure.
Donning her green beanie, black mock turtleneck crop top, usb’ility belt, and headphones, Sophti dug deep into her digital computer, unearthing the weapons needed to become the freshest legally accepted freelance DJ vigilante that ever came out of the Fächerstadt. Rooted by her hip hop background, she lets the rhythm determine her mixes, moving between genres—guided by instinct and love. Sophti’ comes from Sophia - simple as that. A bad ass lady inspired by third-wave feminism cartoons implies softness in her personality, a sensitivity which carries through, even when her sound can travel round a heavy corner—from sopht to gangster. Just ask Rufus.

I WANNA BE A HIPPY - Baron Skain, XL MOOD & IVY FYES
“I Wanna Be A Hippy” is a ganja anthem which examines the emerging hippy counterculture centred in Berlin’s Neukölln-Treptow district, offering mainstream audiences a purrped out view of the movement during the Summer of Synths. Drawing inspiration from Pop Gabba and the Sex Pistols, this dope song was made using a Pro 3 synth and Octatrack sequencer. Since its release, some Dutch Hardcore critics have accused the song of being too Synth-Punk while mainstream audiences see it as an exposé of Berlin excess. Despite these rather sensationalist comments, dance aficionados across the globe have praised its uncensored celebration of stoned joie de vivre. Peace, love & unity as we roll up in the Mega Buff vicinity ✌🏽

06.02 NEW ALBUM SOUL REBEL 🪃
With their clothes well pressed and t’ing, chrome on the valves of the amplifiers highly polished, the Smooth Renegade @moodrich.mp3 and the International Badman @baron_skain move against the systems that try to keep them broke and flatten their spirit.
Jazz chords drift over liquid breaks, dub echoes and low-end funk channels the message of defiance until on the seventh day dem walls come crashing down.

ᗷᑌᖴᖴ TIᑎG ᖇᗩᗪIO ~ ᗷᖇIᗪOᑎTKᑎOᗯ
No one knows exactly when Bridontknow @chikekofi was born. All we know for uncertain is that he is a time-travelling DJ. If you believe the rumours, his mum was Hildegard von Buff (1098-1179), aka the Sibyl of the Rhine, and hands down one of the best composers of sacred monophony, although most sighting of Bridontknow first appear in the 1970s during the height of Disco Fever. At the famous Club Zanzibar, DJ Larry Levans (who was at the time having a brief affair with a hippy) recalls often seeing the flamboyantly vanguard Bridontknow hanging around the decks with a notepad. Reverend Karl Gützlaff, a local Neukölln soothsayer, claims he was first spotted in 2152 inside an intergalactic planetary record store orbiting the exoplanet GJ 3470 b, aka The Phallic Planet. His time travelling heritage, just like his DJ sets, is all over the place, where past, present, and future bend into each other. He brings a touch of nostalgia, sweet housey velvet beats, 80s basslines, with some good ol’ funky-fun energy. To listen to Bridontknow is to time-travel without leaving your body. It’s nostalgia for moments that never happened, and déjà vu for tracks you’ve never heard. “Don’t ask me where I’ve been…cause Bridontknow.”

NEW MEGA BUFF SQUAD COMPILATION INBOUND
The popular release of the first compilation by the Mega Buff Squad had caused quite the ruckus within the inter-underground disco community. How could such a multifarious gang of ragtag vocalists, MCs, producers, and synth traffickers band together to create an album so genre-bendingly diverse yet remain so unified in their compatible sound? Needless to say, this lemon spritz fresh approach to making music was a blatant affront to the various leaders of record labels who held on to power by controlling formulaic beat structures and making people forget they are part of a community. Led by Marchesa Casati, the seductive woman/octopus known to always have a pumpin’ ghettoblaster, the Mega Buff Squad boarded a Milanese galleon and set sail across the high seas. When they were not occupied with smuggling precious records and synthesisers, they made dope beats deep within the studio bowels of the ship. It was decided that the Squad should compile a second compilation an so in great secrecy, DJ Skain managed to smuggle a USB stick to the Mega Buff Mansion where the tracks were made ready. Set to be released 11 April 2025, get ready for the storm beyond as you listen at your own peril.

XL MOOD & DJ SKAIN ~ THE MANSION
Chillin’ at the @megabuff Mansion, the low, steady thrum of the subwoofer reverberates through the carpets, a subtle undertone to the rhythm of anticipation, another dimension. As the smooth groove of the vinyl turns on the table, samples traverse across the fibre optic cable. Arching impatiently into the software, sounds begin to reconfigurate and pulsate. A blend of musky, salty, and slightly sweet aromas emanate, fingertips gently slipping into keys, the synth groans as it drives its electrons into lush curves of overture. Bathed in the glow of ravishment, an album born from the very fabric of the Mansion, its grooves bear witness to the fusion of warm earthy passion.
This sexy album is available on digital but for seduction purposes is best played on vinyl. Available in selected Berlin record stores and on MEGABUFF Bandcamp page [link in bio].
