🇳🇴🧊⛷️ learning to ski! Day 1: tears & total humiliation. I falled over in increasingly creative ways. once I could vaguely stand upright, the instructor said, “You’re good for a beginner!” Fuelled by delusion, I took myself down the mountain. I cried on the chairlift (fear of heights leaving my body) & cried all the way down the descent (dignity leaving body)
On last day, just as I thought I was ready for the Winter Olympics, a huge guy wiped me out. I was airborne like a lil squawking crow. we rolled down the hill in a tumble dryer. I tried to stand up, my legs said absolutely fucking not!!!!! Mountain rescue scooped me up sideways on snow buggy, while I screamed like a Victorian widow all the way down mountain. 3 X-rays later, fractured hip lol!!
I had to get a train to Oslo, unable to walk (No wheelchairs anywhere lol) I was wheeled out the hotel on an office chair. Then, i couldn’t get out the taxi. By chance, I was shoved onto what can only be described as some random metal wheelbarrow and deposited on the station floor. Two Norwegian train people found a random bar stool and CARRIED me on the train, my hips brokenly perched on the stool. The train staff collectively decided I was too pathetic to continue, stopped the train, called an ambulance, and escorted me off on a stretcher.
A week later I still can’t walk & I’m still in a wheelchair!!!!👩🦽➡️Anyway lol, 10/10 would recommend skiing 🤣❄️
